With the NFL season coming down to its final two weeks of the regular season, it takes us to the annual tradition of Saturday professional football.
This NFL DFS showdown article is going to specifically focus on the nightcap, and that’s the NFC West matchup between the Cardinals and Rams at SoFi Stadium.
If you’ve never played showdowns, it’s a pretty fun and simple way to get into DFS. Obviously, there’s going to be some very large MME tournaments that will net a huge top prize, but there’s also other contests that are much lower risk. This breakdown is going to be more geared to the top-heavy high prizepool tournaments, regardless if it’s MME, limited-entry or single entry.
My approach toward showdown slates is going to be heavily centered on rostership. With prize pools being very top heavy in the large GPP tournaments, I like being a bit contrarian whenever possible.
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams
8 p.m. ET Saturday
First, it needs to be said that the Rams have dominated this divisional matchup dating back to when Jared Goff was the quarterback for the Rams. Matthew Stafford has had a tougher time against the Cardinals — losing three of the seven matchups they’ve had since he joined the team in 2021. You could argue that the Week 2 matchup was misleading because the Rams were dealing with a great deal of injury issues and didn’t have Puka Nacua in uniform. They also lost Cooper Kupp early in the game and hadn’t figured things out with their young defense until later in the season. On top of that, the Cardinals officially do not have anything to play for. Their abysmal run over the last few weeks of play set them a mile backward, and the once division leaders are now mathematically out of playoff contention.
