There are 12 total participants in the TopProp FTN Expert League, listed below:

All 12 participated in their 12-team PPR draft earlier this week, with the results of the draft (sorted by team) below:

With such a sharp group of individuals, wide receivers flew off the board, as the position became incredibly thin toward the tail end of the draft. You also saw this push their ADPs up, as players like Marquez Callaway (Round 7), Terrace Marshall (Round 10), Rondale Moore (Round 10) and other buzzworthy receivers were taken earlier than they are in typical home leagues.

Obviously, an update on standings ahead of Week 1 does nothing for anyone, as there hasn’t been a game played. Because of that, let’s dive into the Week 1 matchups.

As shown above, all 12 of the teams in the league are projected to score at least 134 points, with Joe’s team being the highest-projected (158.49) and Daniel Kelley’s being the lowest (134.03) — though it’s worth noting that Daniel chose not to draft a kicker or defense in the draft and will surely add one before the games start, which will improve his projection.

Based on pure projections, the matchup between Matthew Freedman (Matthew’s Optimal Team) and Matt Jones (Matthew Jones’s Swell Team) is the closest, separated by a mere 0.43 points.

Naturally, this should be one of the best matchups of the week, making it the spotlight matchup of the week.

With a spread of only one point via TopProp, it almost becomes a coin-toss as to who you expect to win. Both teams have strengths, as Freedman is anchored by a strong group of receivers and running backs, while Jones has an elite quarterback, tight end and WR1/RB1. On the flip side, both have weaknesses. Starting Tua Tagovailoa in Week 1 has the potential to pay off given his ceiling, but in the limited capacity in which we saw him last season, it’s certainly a massive gamble. For Jones, Josh Jacobs has a plethora of question marks surrounding him, especially in a Week 1 matchup against the Ravens. Can he produce enough to warrant RB2 production?

Given the overall makeup of each roster, my pick is aligning with the points here with Freedman, as I project his team to be the favorite, making the +1-point spread a value.
