Less than two weeks away from an annual celebration of newfangled millionaires, the 2021 NFL Draft is sure to be filled with endless intrigue, especially Round 1. Combing over Tipico Sportsbook’s vast array of props, which ones stand out? This balding sleuth views a couple through the magnifying glass.

DeVonta Smith OVER 11.5 pick position (+100)

Seduced by the juice. It’s a powerful motivator that grabs onlookers searching high and low for prop values. Upon first glance, Smith’s odds hit this easily swayable mouthpiece with the paralyzing force of a sci-fi tractor beam. The reigning Heisman winner is an explosive receiver equipped with the ball-tracking skills, adjustment bend and devastating speed to become an instant downfield playmaker. Last season for the Tide, he ranked inside the top-five nationally in total deep yards, screen yards and slot yards. Preferably deployed as a X receiver at the next level, he certainly owns the versatility to match up elsewhere. Still, Smith needs to pound the protein shakes. At a svelte 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, some NFL GMs question how successful he’ll be against physical, pressing corners. It’s why Ja’Marr Chase and former college teammate Jaylen Waddle could be sought after before Smith, potentially allowing the WR to slide. If the Giants don’t bite at No. 11, Philadelphia (No. 12) or New England (No. 15) are sensible landing spots. That happens, and this nincompoop will count the cash money.

Najee Harris first running back drafted (-145)

A three-down road grader equipped with the brawn, pass-blocking huevos, durability and hands to become the game’s next tough-to-wrangle workhorse, Harris is the rusher atop many teams’ RB draft board. Whether thrust into a gap or zone-based scheme, he should thrive, likely commanding 15-20 touches per game out of the gate. Last season with Alabama, he finished inside the top-three nationally in total yards after contact and missed tackles forced. Miami (No. 18), the New York Jets (No. 23), Pittsburgh (No. 24) and Buffalo (No. 30) are all potential suitors for Harris. Yes, NFL running backs are no longer coveted as the irreplaceable roster pieces they once were, but the bulldozing rusher checks a box for teams needing muscle to move the chains. He, Javonte Williams and Travis Etienne are the three most coveted backs in this class. However, it’s the national champ who should command the highest draft capital.
