Isaac Guerendo Nears 100 All-Purpose Yards In Loss To Lions

San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Isaac Guerendo had a useful fantasy day during a 40-34 loss to the Detroit Lions on Monday night. The former high school wide receiver took nine carries for just 34 yards but saved his day through the air by catching all four of his targets for 65 yards. With most fantasy leagues in the books after Monday night, it's fair to say that Guerendo comported himself well in his rookie season by flashing the speed, receiving chops, and scheme fit that caused the 49ers to trade up and select him in the fourth round. Guerendo figures to draw another start while vying for his fifth 10-plus-point half-PPR performance in Week 18's meaningless game in Arizona.

Brock Purdy Posts Best Fantasy Day Of Season, Exits Late With Elbow Injury

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) had an excellent game -- at least for fantasy purposes-- during a 40-34 home loss to the Detroit Lions on Monday night. He was 27-of-35 for 377 yards and three touchdowns through the air, adding three carries for 12 yards and another touchdown on the ground. Purdy, who celebrated his 25th birthday this week, spread it around, tossing touchdowns to rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall, fullback Kyle Jusczcyk, and receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. on pop-pass reverse. Purdy's season-best, 30-plus point performance in fantasy included two crucial second-half interceptions that threw a wet blanket on his real-life football night. Adding injury to insult, Purdy was forced out of the game with a right-elbow injury in San Francisco's final garbage-time drive before backup Joshua Dobbs ran in the Niners' fifth touchdown of the night. Purdy -- if healthy -- will close out his third NFL season in a meaningless game in Arizona on Sunday in Week 18.

Patrick Taylor Jr. Avoidable For Week 17

San Francisco 49ers running back Patrick Taylor Jr. is expected to take a backseat to Isaac Guerendo (hamstring, foot) on Monday. Guerendo has been cleared to play after sitting out last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins. Taylor didn't do much with his start last week as he only managed 24 yards on the ground. He hauled in only one of his five targets as it was a bust of a day for Taylor. He might be worth holding given the amount of injuries in the 49ers backfield, but his fantasy outlook is bleak with Guerendo back in the mix in Week 17.

Ricky Pearsall Has Shaky Value For Week 17

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall hasn't made much of an impact on offense during the second half of the season. Last week, Pearsall hauled in all four of his targets for 37 yards in the loss to the Miami Dolphins. The rookie wideout has been held to 37 receiving yards or less in every game since Week 10. The good news is that Pearsall has seen four targets in each of his last two games. Sadly, Pearsall hasn't been able to do much with his catches. He'll be a risky flex choice for the Week 17 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Jake Moody Not A Great Bet In Championship Week Versus Detroit

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody will kick off to the Detroit Lions on Monday night in Santa Clara. Last week in Miami, Moody went one of two on field goal attempts, making a 21-yarder in the second quarter before missing from 41 in the third. The missed field goal caused head coach Kyle Shanahan to spike his tablet in frustration, but he later offered comments in support of Moody. The former third-round pick has struggled with accuracy this season, checking in at 76.7% while the league is averaging 83.8% overall. It's worth noting that Moody has pretty extreme splits -- a perfect 15-of-15 at home and a dismal 8-of-15 on the road. He is a perfect 25-for-25 on extra points overall. Detroit's defense is middle-of-the-pack by yardage, so normally San Francisco would be expected to get Moody at least a couple of opportunities, but the Niners are down to their third left tackle, and starting right tackle Colton McKivitz (knee) is questionable. Also, a scenario in which a high-powered Detroit offense builds a lead that incentivizes the 49ers to go for it on fourth down in field goal range is possible. The weather isn't expected to be a factor on Monday night. Moody is RotoBaller's K20 in its Week 17 rankings.
