Prime-Time First TD Bets — Sunday Night Football, Week 2

Share

Sunday Night Football is here, as the Houston Texans host the Chicago Bears in a battle of promising, young quarterbacks. Houston is favored by almost a touchdown, which means its players will sit atop the odds for first touchdown scorer. Tilting things even further that direction is Chicago, which had one of the worst offensive performances you’ll ever see last week.

Caleb Williams threw for 93 yards on 14 completions for an average of 6.6 yards per completion. The Carolina Panthers were the worst in the NFL in 2023 in yards per completion at 7.8, 18% better than the Bears last week. Perhaps it’s a sign of things to come, but I’m more inclined to believe it was just one week and maybe due to the No. 1 draft pick being a little nervous in his first game at home.

Regardless, the market strongly believes that the Texans are more likely to score touchdowns today. Luckily for us, we’re just focused on who will score the first touchdown. Could there be value on the Bears after last week? Will the Texans score early and often? With all of that in mind, here are the bets I’ve made for first TD scorer.
