However, the 23-year-old played sparingly in his rookie season and caught just four passes for 107 yards on 14 targets in 14 games. At the Senior Bowl this year, Bengals director of player personnel spoke on Burton's status with the organization. "He's done nothing, and he's going to have to start doing something quickly. We knew we were taking a risk. We felt comfortable that we could help him through some of the challenges he's had in the past, and we're going to continue to try to help him," Tobin said. "But this is professional football, and you have to take accountability, and you have to be accountable to your teammates, your coaches, and the team that you're playing for, and he has to figure that out." Burton notably did not travel with the team for a must-win game against the Pittsburgh Steelers late in the 2024 campaign and seems to be falling out of favor with the coaching staff and front office quickly. The speedster could be at risk of being released or traded before the next regular season.

This is a telling sign and could suggest the he is beginning to fall out of favor with the coaching staff. He has not logged at least ten offensive snaps in each of his past five games. Throughout the season, Burton has only caught four of his 14 targets for 107 yards. Fantasy managers should expect Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins (ankle) and Andrei Iosivas to lead the passing attack once again in the regular season finale.

But it appears he's moving in the right direction, although fantasy managers should still keep him on the bench for Sunday's meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Charlie Jones (groin) is also out for the Bengals, so the 23-year-old Burton is likely to work as the No. 3 wideout in Week 10 behind Ja'Marr Chase and Andrei Iosivas. Burton, a third-rounder in April of this year, has real skills as a deep threat but has plenty of maturing to do off the field. Tight end Mike Gesicki will remain heavily involved as a pass-catcher, too, so Burton is more of a DFS long shot on Thursday night. He has only two catches for 88 yards in his first seven NFL games.
