Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Braxton Berrios (knee) agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal with the Houston Texans on Monday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal was negotiated by agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey. Berrios heads to the AFC South division after suffering a torn left ACL in Week 7 of last year. When the 29-year-old pass-catcher is back to full health, he figures to give the Texans additional receiver depth behind Nico Collins and Christian Kirk (collarbone) with Tank Dell (knee) potentially missing all of the 2025 season. At best, though, Berrios will likely be limited in his playing time as a role player on offense while mostly contributing as a kick returner on special teams. The former sixth-round pick by the New England Patriots in 2018 out of the University of Miami had his best season in 2021 with the Jets, catching 46 of 65 passes for 431 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games (one start).

Berrios will go on IR after injuring his knee in the fourth quarter of Sunday's Week 7 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The earliest that the 29-year-old can return would be for a Week 12 matchup against the division-rival New England Patriots. Berrios wasn't on the fantasy radar to begin with, as he was unable to haul in any of the four targets he saw in six games played this year. The Dolphins will move forward with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Odell Beckham Jr. and Malik Washington as their four receivers. With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) potentially returning in Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals, the fantasy value of both Hill and Waddle is about to get a shot in the arm.

Berrios will return to Miami to provide receiving depth behind Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Erik Ezukanma in 2024. The 28-year-old former sixth-round selection of the New England Patriots in 2018 out of Miami of Florida caught 27 of his 33 targets for 238 yards and one touchdown in 16 regular-season games (one start) last year in his first year with the Dolphins. Berrios isn't on the fantasy radar unless your league counts points for return yards, as he's likely to be Miami's primary kick returner again in 2024. In five NFL seasons, Berrios has 134 receptions for 1,323 yards and only six touchdowns in 81 games (six starts).
