We’re in the meat of the NFL season. With these contests spanning a full 18 weeks, it’s all about going on a nice run a few weeks in a row to rocket up the standings. There are a few picks in the Circa Millions contest I like this week in particular, which may be fairly contrarian and allow me to sneak up the standings if they hit.
Week 5 Circa Millions Picks
Cleveland Browns +3
Jayden Daniels is certainly legit. Deshaun Watson is certainly a bust. That’s priced in beyond belief by now. There’s literally no one wanting to bet the Browns here outside the state of Ohio, especially with such a modest spread. But it’s football. Anything can happen. Maybe the 80-yard Amari Cooper touchdown doesn’t get called back by a BS holding call this game. Whatever the case may be, this is the type of contrarian pick, where if I get it right, may help me standings-wise in a lot of these contests. Our betting model even agrees with me!
New York Jets +2.5
I view these as two very similar teams. One just had an embarrassing loss, and the other has overperformed. On a neutral field with two relatively similarly level skilled teams, I’ll take the 2.5 points.
Houston Texans PK
This is a great line. I’m generally seeing Texans -1 at sportsbooks, and our betting model likes laying that even. I just hope my colleague Brooke Kromer doesn’t see this pick of mine against her Bills before our Sunday morning show.
Cincinnati Bengals +2.5
My guess is Ravens -2.5 will be a popular pick after everyone saw the Ravens demolish the Bills in prime time. While this Ravens team is good, I do think the Bengals are turning their season around and wouldn’t want to bet against them at home. I’m also generally seeing slightly higher vigorish on most sharp sportsbooks betting on the Bengals at this line.
