Stefon Diggs Unsure About His Future

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs expressed uncertainty about his future in Buffalo in his first comments since losing in the Divisional Round of the playoffs to the Kansas City Chiefs. When asked whether he was ready to move forward with the Bills, Diggs said, "I'm ready to go no matter which way it goes," and did not elaborate. Diggs saved his worst for last in the loss to KC, catching just three passes for 21 yards on eight targets while also dropping a crucial deep pass that could have won the game in the fourth quarter. Diggs will have a $27.354 million salary cap hit in 2024 and still has three years left on the four-year extension he signed in 2022. General manager Brandon Beane backed Diggs after being eliminated from the playoffs, but Diggs' recent comments could be construed as non-committal to his future in Buffalo. The 30-year-old had a sixth straight 1,000-yard season in 2023, but he finished with just 422 yards and two touchdowns in his final 10 games.

Kayshon Boutte Arrested On Thursday

New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte was arrested on Thursday on charges related to illegal online sports gambling. The rookie allegedly created an online betting account under a fictitious name and then placed illegal bets while he was still under the age of 21 and not legally allowed to gamble. He is accused of placing nearly 9,000 bets, including at least two bets on an LSU game that he played in. Boutte was once viewed as a potential first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft but ultimately fell to the sixth round. He caught just two passes for 19 yards in his rookie campaign, and off-the-field incidents are not going to help his cause to get more opportunities moving forward.

Bills GM Confident In Stefon Diggs Moving Forward

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs had a disastrous second half of the 2023 season that extended into the playoffs. Over his final 13 games, he failed to post over 87 receiving yards, and he fell under 55 yards in eight of those contests. He caught just ten passes for 73 yards and no touchdowns in the Bills' playoff games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs. However, general manager Brandon Beane is confident in Diggs moving forward. "He's a No. 1 receiver," Beane told reporters on Tuesday during his end-of-season news conference. "I firmly believe that. I'm not wavering off of that. We have to continue to put weapons out there to keep teams from bracketing him or locking him down in different ways. I know there's various reasons or questions on this, there's production and all that, but I still see Stef as a No. 1 receiver." The three-time Pro Bowler turned 30 during the 2023 campaign, so there's a chance he is beyond his prime years of production. That said, it sounds like Beane would like to keep him around and the team still views him as the clear top option in the passing game for 2024.

Stefon Diggs Closes Season With One More Dud

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs flopped one more time in Sunday's 27-24 Divisional Round defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs to wrap up a concerning drop-off, finishing with a season-low 21 yards on three catches (eight targets) and a seven-yard carry. As they've done in recent weeks, the Bills often sent Diggs in motion and used him in the backfield to avoid L'Jarius Sneed's shadow coverage, but it wasn't enough to get him going. Diggs started a rough evening by coughing up the ball on his first catch, but Dalton Kincaid was there to bat it out of bounds. Diggs had a chance to save his day by coming down with a deep Josh Allen bomb late, but the 30-year-old wideout couldn't corral the pass. It brings a merciful end to a dreadful second half for Diggs, who last scored in Week 12 and broke the 80-yard barrier in Week 6. A cinch first-round fantasy pick in recent years, Diggs' late-season decline could push him out of that echelon in 2024 drafts.

Stefon Diggs Faces Daunting Divisional-Round Task

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs posted his second straight seven-catch effort in last Monday's wild-card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he failed to score for the sixth week in a row. Diggs handled the shadow coverage of top Steelers cornerback Joey Porter fairly well, but things won't get any easier in Sunday's Divisional Round versus the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs gave up the third-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts in the regular season, and Diggs also lines up for shadow treatment against L'Jarius Sneed, who allowed zero touchdowns and the fewest PPR fantasy points per target (1.00) over 16 games in 2023. Primarily covering Diggs when these squads clashed in Week 14, Sneed clamped down on him for Diggs' season low in yards (24). Without a 100-yard showing since Week 6, Diggs' looks more boom-or-bust than ever, but that should at least depress his DFS rostership and offer some contrarian appeal.
