Najee Harris 2022 Prop Bets: Rushing Yards, TD Predictions

Running backs drafted in the first round are always expected to be bell-cow running backs, and Najee Harris fit the bill to a tee last season. In his rookie year, after being drafted 24th overall, Harris accumulated 1,200 yards and the ground and he also had seven rushing touchdowns.

Harris was able to achieve these numbers on 307 carries behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Harris, the Alabama standout, does not have a lot of tread on his young tires, and he should still be the focal point of the Steelers’ offense this season.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Harris’ rushing yard prop is set at 1,150.5 yards and his 2022 rushing touchdown prop is set at 9.5 scores. Oddsmakers are anticipating Harris to rack up fewer yards on the ground, but more scores. It will be interesting to see if this is the case for the second-year back.

The Steelers’ will start a QB not named Big Ben for the first time in a long time, and we are all expecting regression in the Steelers’ QB room. Will this lead to a bigger role for Harris, or will teams’ stack the box heavily against Pittsburgh? Let’s dive into Najee Harris’ 2022 NFL prop bets and predict if he will go over or under his set totals.

How Many Rushing Yards with Najee Harris Have in 2022?

(Over 1,150.5; -115)

Harris was the Steelers’ top option on offense last season, and the 2022 season should be no different. Harris was drafted to be the guy in the running game, and there is no circumstance that Mike Tomlin will lower Harris’ workload barring injury. He is an integral part of their team, and he should see an increase in carries and snap count this year.

Kenny Pickett or Mitch Trubisky will start at QB for Pittsburgh, and neither of these players has what it takes to lead a passing offense. Make no mistake about it, even with Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool on the outside, Harris is the Steelers’ best weapon on offense, and he will be fed as such.

Harris will have to take the pressure off Trubisky or Pickett, and he is the guy to do it. Despite rushing behind one of the worst offensive lines in football, Harris still hit 1,200 rushing yards. The Steelers did not do too much to improve their offensive line, so this will be a problem again this season. However, Harris has all the tools, and the skills, to put up another fantastic rushing season.

Harris may face more loaded boxes since the Steelers are weak at QB, and this may be troublesome for Harris. I am not expecting him to blow his rushing yard prop out of the water, but he will be given all the opportunities possible to go over this total and have a great season for the Steelers.

How Many Rushing Touchdowns will Najee Harris Have in 2022?

(Over 9.5; +100)

Scoring 10 or more rushing touchdowns is a tough feat and just seven running backs hit this total last year. Oddsmakers setting this number so high may seem like an immediate bet on the under, but given the circumstances in Pittsburgh, I am becoming increasingly convinced that Harris will have 10 or more rushing touchdowns next season.

I expect the Steelers’ passing offense to be one of the worst in football next season, so Harris will be given the opportunity to score more next season. He played 84% of the Steelers’ offensive snaps in 2021, and that number should rise. Harris has limited competition for snaps, so in the red zone, he should get force-fed the football.

My two concerns for this going over are if the Steelers’ offensive line is truly horrible and if he faces too many loaded boxes in the red zone. It is not easy to score a touchdown in the NFL, even from 2-5 yards out, but Harris has the skills to make plays happen. Harris is a force in the passing game, so it is also possible the Steelers get him into the end zone more through the air, but I think Harris will have more opportunities in the red zone to punch the ball in than he did last season.
