Moves to Make Now in Dynasty Fantasy Football (2/26)

Sadly, we’re in the slow point of the NFL offseason. Still, with free agency and the draft right around the corner, there is opportunity to be had and dynasty moves to make before things start to get weird.

As a reminder, buying doesn’t mean getting a player for the complete series DVD set of Golden Girls and Will Dissly. Selling doesn’t mean you must rid your rosters of said player for 10 cents on the dollar. When players are improperly valued, take advantage.

Dynasty Moves to Make: Sells

Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, New York Giants

One of the (very) few bright spots for the New York Giants last season was the emergence of rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. But he’s getting too much credit for his average production. According to FTN StatsHub, he ranked T-20th in yards per carry (4.4), 24th in yards before contact (1.5), 18th in yards after contact (2.8), 25th in avoided tackle rate (20.3%) and 35th in explosive run rate (9.4%). The Giants don’t have much invested in him, either. Tracy was taken in the fifth round, and running back is a position where draft capital matters. A deep incoming rookie class, middling-at-best efficiency metrics and an explosive run rate in the single digits adds up to an assumed starter who’s easily replaced. If you can get Tracy’s RB2 value, move him ASAP.

Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Commanders

This one hurts. I’m a Terry McLaurin stan and touted him all last offseason. It paid off to the tune of a top-10 WR finish, partially thanks to a career-high 13 touchdowns. But therein lies the problem. Granted, he didn’t have Jayden Daniels as his quarterback, but McLaurin had 14 combined touchdowns in the three seasons prior. I’m not one to call for regression… but touchdown regression is coming. Since 2021, 15 different wide receivers have scored double digit touchdowns. Only four repeated the feat the next season: Davante Adams and Stefon Diggs in 2021/2022, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Mike Evans in 2023/2024. The Commanders have been vocal about looking to add another capable wide receiver, including rumored to be interested in Cooper Kupp if/when he is released. He also turns 30 next September, an age at which we historically see a significant drop-off for receivers. It’s possible, if not likely, that Scary Terry just had the best season of his career. Don’t give him away, but if you’re able to sell high, do it.
