Kyler Murray has a lot to prove in the 2022 NFL season, following his $230.5 million contract extension and the controversial clause included in the deal that raised questions about his work ethic (which has since been removed). The Arizona Cardinals quarterback can go a long way in silencing any doubters by going over his projected passing yard and passing touchdown totals.
Murray’s 2022 prop bets include an over/under of 4,050.5 passing yards and 25.5 touchdown passes at DraftKings Sportsbook. Surpassing both totals would mean setting career highs for the fourth-year signal-caller.
In 14 games during the 2021 season, Murray had 3,787 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Murray was a top MVP candidate in the first half of the season, leading Arizona to a 7-0 record while posting a 116.8 passer rating. The 2018 Heisman Trophy winner would go on to miss three games with a sprained ankle before the wheels fell off and the Cardinals were blown out on Wild-Card Weekend.
Late-season tailspins have been a theme of Kliff Kingsbury’s tenure as the Cardinals head coach. Getting off to a fast start in 2022 won’t be easy. DeAndre Hopkins has been suspended for the first six games of the season for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
Murray looked lost in Arizona’s 34-11 playoff defeat against the Los Angeles Rams. Earlier in the season, Murray looked like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Which player will show up this year?
Let’s take a look at the odds for Murray’s passing totals in the 2022 NFL season and the best bet for each prop.

How Many Passing Yards Will Kyler Murray Have In 2022?
Over 4,050.5 Yards (-110, DraftKings Sportsbook)
As much as Murray uses his legs to generate offense, running the ball is only a small part of his game. Murray only averaged 30.2 rushing yards per game last season compared to his 270.5 yards through the air. Murray only had one game in 2021 with double-digit rushing attempts. Considering his progression as a passer, Murray’s carries per game could reach a career-low in 2022.
In order to go over 4,050.5 passing yards, Murray needs to average 238.3 yards over the course of 17 games. Not only did Murray easily surpass that number last season, but he averaged 248.2 yards per game two seasons ago. Murray’s 2021 average would’ve gotten him to 4,057 yards in 15 games.
Murray’s 2021 passing total wasn’t bolstered by a handful of big-time performances. The quarterback was a model of consistency in terms of yardage. He threw for at least 239 yards in 12 of his 14 starts. Murray was limited to 229 yards in a game against the Cleveland Browns because Arizona won by 23 points, and Colt McCoy finished the contest under center.
How Many Touchdown Passes Will Kyler Murray Throw In 2022?
Over 25.5 TDs (-110, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Murray had 26 touchdown passes when he played a full season in 2020. He was on a 29-touchdown pace for 17 games in 2021. Even though he’s dealt with injuries in the last couple of years, Murray has started 46 of a possible 49 games since being selected first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. Murray should play enough games for his touchdown total to be within reach late in the season.
Hopkins’ absence will make throwing touchdown passes more difficult for the first six games. Arizona has enough weapons in Marquise Brown, Rondale Moore and A.J. Green that Murray can keep the Cardinals afloat to start the season. The quarterback usually plays his best football in the early part of the season, and that trend might very well continue. Arizona opens the season with matchups against the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders in what are likely to be high-scoring games that feature plenty of touchdowns.
Forget about the idea that Murray might not watch enough film. The fact is that Murray has gotten better every season. Murray’s completion percentage, touchdown percentage, interception rate, yards per game and passer rating have all improved each year. Murray has been selected to consecutive Pro Bowls, and there’s a good chance that streak will extend to three years in a row.
How to Bet Kyler Murray Props
Player prop bets aren’t only available for individual games. Sportsbooks allow bettors to wager on player totals for the entire season.
Once you’ve set up an account with a sportsbook that operates in your state and you’ve deposited money, you’re ready to bet on player futures. In the player props section, quarterbacks are given a passing yards total, along with odds for both the over and the under.
Kyler Murray’s regular-season passing yards total, for example, is 4,050.5 yards. The over and the under both have -110 odds. When the odds have a minus sign, the number represents how much money you would have to risk in order to make $100 for a winning bet.
A winning $110 bet on Murray to throw over 4,050.5 yards would result in a profit of $100. In total, $210 should be added to your account, including a $100 profit and the $110 you originally wagered. A winning $100 bet on Murray’s over for passing yards would come with a $90.91 profit.
