Patrick Mahomes Off Injury Report, Looking To Make History

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was listed on the injury report with an ankle injury, but practiced fully all week and does not have an injury designation heading into the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes is looking to make history as a win on Sunday would make him the only quarterback in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. The 29-year-old already has an accolade-filled resume, but another Super Bowl win at this stage of his career could solidify him as one of the greatest players in the sport's history. Mahomes certainly has enough incentive to pull out a win, but he has a wide range of outcomes regarding his production. Kansas City plays a style of football conducive to winning, but their methods don't always translate to ceiling performances. The Chiefs could win because of strong defensive performances and lengthy offensive drives. The pursuit of history is more than enough reason to believe that Mahomes will do everything in his power to win. The path will not be easy since the Eagles had arguably the best defense in the league during the regular season. That said, Mahomes has the experience and ability to overcome difficult situations. Mahomes should be considered a safe pick for DFS and playoff leagues, but he does have a lower floor than in years past.

Skyy Moore Considered Doubtful For Super Bowl

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore (abdomen) is considered doubtful for Sunday's Super Bowl matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Moore has been on the injured reserve since October due to an abdominal injury. He was designated to return last week, but was only able to get through limited practice sessions since then. It seems increasingly likely that Moore misses the big game, but his absence won't mean too much considering he has missed a majority of the season already. The Chiefs will head into the Super Bowl with Xavier Worthy, Marquise Brown, and DeAndre Hopkins as their top wideouts.

Skyy Moore Limited Again On Thursday

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore (abdomen), who remains on Injured Reserve, was listed as limited on Thursday in practice for the second straight day this week. Although the Chiefs opened Moore's practice window to come off IR recently, he has yet to put in a full practice and was listed as doubtful to play in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of last week. Moore is almost certainly going to have to upgrade to a full practice on Friday to have a realistic chance of coming off IR to be active on Sunday. There's no guarantee that Moore will even see any offensive snaps against the Eagles in the unlikely event that he's even active. The 24-year-old former second-round selection in 2022 out of Western Michigan had no catches on three targets in the six games he played in 2024 before landing on IR.

Skyy Moore Limited In Wednesday's Practice

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore (abdomen) was the only player on the team listed as limited in their first practice of the week on Wednesday. The Chiefs opened Moore's practice window last week to return from Injured Reserve potentially for the Super Bowl this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, although the Chiefs listed him as doubtful last Friday. The 24-year-old is going to have to upgrade to a full practice on either Thursday or Friday to improve his already dim chances of being activated from IR and suiting up this weekend in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX. He has been on IR since October with a core-muscle injury, so even if he were to be activated, he may not even see the field at all. Moore has so far been a bust for the Chiefs since being taken in the second round in 2022, catching 43 of 74 targets for 494 yards and one touchdown in three seasons.

Rashee Rice Doing Well

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that wide receiver Rashee Rice (knee), who is on Injured Reserve, is doing well, which is "a good sign for next year." Rice will not play in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9, against the Philadelphia Eagles after he had surgery to fix the LCL in his right knee way back in October of last year. The 24-year-old also suffered a tear of his hamstring in 2024, but the good news is that barring any setbacks this offseason, he should be fully ready for the start of the 2025 season this fall. And when fully healthy, Rice should return to being quarterback Patrick Mahomes' No. 1 target in the passing game. Before suffering his season-ending injury, the former third-rounder had 24 catches on 29 targets for 288 yards and two touchdowns. The only thing standing in the way of his fantasy value for next season is a potential suspension for an off-the-field incident last March.
