How Damien Williams opting out affects Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Share

That whoosh you just heard was Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s ADP shooting to the moon. With the news of Damien Williams opting out for this season, the much-debated Edwards-Helaire is now king of the backfield castle. The coveted spot as Andy Reid’s primary runner will be Edwards-Helaire’s role despite the abbreviated season. Edwards-Helaire should have no issues fending off DeAndre Washington and Darwin Thompson, among others. Although Washington and Thompson now enter the conversation as fliers in the later rounds of best ball drafts or as pickups in dynasty formats. His first-round draft capital, route running capabilities, and prowess as an inside runner all cement Edwards-Helaire's status.

Reid’s offense is the golden chalice that every fantasy owner hopes to drink from. Reids’s rushing attack has finished inside in the top seven in rushing touchdowns in six of the last 10 years. Any concerns regarding Edwards-Helaire’s carry load should also be alleviated by the efficiency of Reid’s attack. In eight of the last 10 years, Reid has fielded a ground game that has ranked inside the top eight in yards per rushing attempt. Since Reid arrived in Kansas City seven years ago, his primary back has finished as a top-eight option in PPR fantasy points at the position five times. Draft Clyde Edwards-Helaire aggressively and enjoy the show.
