Christian Kirk To Be Released By Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are releasing wide receiver Christian Kirk, according to NFL insider Ari Meirov. The team will clear $10.4 million by moving on from the 28-year-old. Kirk played four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before signing a four-year, $72 million contract with Jacksonville ahead of the 2022 season. The former Texas A&M Aggie flashed in 2022, compiling 84 receptions for 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns. However, he has played fewer than 13 games in each of the last two seasons and has fallen under 800 receiving yards in 2023 and 2024. With superstar wideout Brian Thomas Jr. on the roster, Kirk became expendable as the team looks to retool under new head coach Liam Coen. Kirk should draw interest on the open free-agent market.

Texans Re-Sign Dare Ogunbowale To One-Year Deal

The Houston Texans re-signed running back Dare Ogunbowale to a one-year, $2 million deal, according to NFL Insider Tom Pelissero. The 30-year-old has spent the last three seasons with Houston as a backup and primary special teamer following two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Overall, Ogunbowale has rushed 166 times for 569 yards and four touchdowns in 95 games across four organizations. Fantasy managers should not expect Ogunbowale to be on the fantasy radar in 2025 barring a slew of injuries to Houston's running back room.

Texans Rework Nico Collins' Contract, Clear $9.8 Million In Cap Space

The Houston Texans restructured the contract of star wide receiver Nico Collins, clearing $9.8 million in salary cap space for 2025. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, it was a simple restructure. Last offseason, Collins signed a three-year, $72.75 million contract extension with Houston following a 1,297-yard receiving season. The former Michigan Wolverine posted 1,006 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in just 12 games in 2024. With Stefon Diggs likely out of Houston entering next season, Collins is poised for another strong year as quarterback C.J. Stroud's No. 1 wide receiver.

Jaguars To Cut Christian Kirk?

ESPN's Dan Graziano puts the odds at 75 percent that the Jacksonville Jaguars cut wide receiver Christian Kirk (collarbone) this offseason. Kirk has one year left on his current deal and is scheduled to make $16.5 million in 2025. However, he's coming off a season-ending broken collarbone and has seen his production decline the last two years due to injuries, and the Jaguars have a new head coach and offensive system and will have a new general manager soon. They also signed Gabe Davis last offseason, and Brian Thomas Jr. took over in 2024 as a legitimate No. 1 wideout. Cutting Kirk would save $10.4 million in 2025 salary cap space. Other potential cap cuts to free up money are receiver Josh Reynolds ($4 million) and tight end Evan Engram ($6 million). It's highly unlikely Jacksonville cuts both Kirk and Engram this offseason.

Tank Dell "On The Right Track" In His Recovery

Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said that wide receiver Tank Dell (knee) is "on the right track" in his recovery from a devastating knee injury that he suffered in 2024. "We'll see where he ends up," Ryans said. Dell has a long way to go in his recovery from a torn ACL, MCL and LCL, but it's nice to hear that things are going well early on. Despite Ryans' statement, there remains a pretty good chance that the 25-year-old won't be able to play at all in 2025 after needing multiple surgeries to fix the extensive damage to his left knee. And when the speedy deep threat does return for the Texans, he may never be the same. In addition to tearing all those ligaments, he dislocated his knee and suffered damage to his meniscus. In 14 games before his injury, Dell had 51 catches, 667 yards and three touchdowns on 81 targets. We'll continue to provide updates on Dell's long road to recovery
