MarShawn Lloyd To Return To Practice This Week

Green Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) will return to practice this week and be designated to return from Injured Reserve. The Packers will now have 21 days to officially activate Lloyd from IR, but he's now eligible to potentially return to the field this Sunday to face the division-rival Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. The 23-year-old third-round pick hasn't played since suffering an ankle sprain in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, but he's nearing a return and certainly could take over lead backup duties behind Josh Jacobs by the end of the season. Lloyd isn't a bad deep-league stash, especially if you have Jacobs rostered, but you should also temper expectations. He missed most of training camp as well due to an injury and has lots of catching up to do. Emanuel Wilson has been Jacobs' primary backup for most of the year.

MarShawn Lloyd Getting Ready To Return Soon

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said that rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) is going to be ready to be activated from Injured Reserve in the near future and will likely take the 53-man roster spot of linebacker Preston Smith, who was dealt to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday at the trade deadline. The Packers are on bye in Week 10, but they could open the 23-year-old's 21-day practice window next week, and he could be ready to return for a Week 11 clash against the division-rival Chicago Bears. The third-rounder has been banged up since training camp and only played in Week 2 against the Colts, carrying the ball six times for 15 yards and catching one pass for three yards. Lloyd has missed a lot of developmental time in his rookie campaign, but he has the skills to be Green Bay's RB2 behind Josh Jacobs by season's end.

Luke Musgrave Undergoes Ankle Surgery

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle) underwent ankle surgery. "He will hopefully be back later this season," LaFleur said. Musgrave was placed on Injured Reserve on Oct. 11 due to his ankle injury, but barring a setback in his recovery, he'll have a chance to return to the team later this season. The 24-year-old quickly took a back seat to fellow TE Tucker Kraft as a pass-catcher in the early portion of 2024 before injuring his ankle. The second-round pick in 2023 out of Oregon State had five catches for 22 yards in four games before getting hurt after putting up a 34-352-1 line in 11 regular-season games in his rookie campaign. When Musgrave returns later this season, he'll most likely go back to playing second fiddle to Kraft. Fantasy managers in single-year leagues can continue to ignore him.

Romeo Doubs A Background Player In Packers’ Week 9 Loss

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs was pretty quiet in the Packers' Week 9 loss to the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions. Doubs was fourth in targets (5) for the Packers and brought in four receptions for 28 yards. Continuing to lead the team in snaps and routes each week, the Packers' third-year wide receiver is a stalwart on the field but does cede some of the target-earning and big-play ability to fellow wide receivers Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks. While Doubs is talented in his own right, he's not immune to the ebbs and flows that come with being on a team with so many talented pass-catchers. Doubs and the Packers are off on bye in Week 10, but Doubs should be considered a low-end WR3 or flex play when Green Bay heads down to face their rivals, the Chicago Bears, in Week 11.

Tucker Kraft Quiet In Packers’ Week 9 Defeat

Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft blended into the background a bit as the Packers suffered defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions 24-14. Kraft has been very productive for fantasy managers this season but his Week 9 output was very quiet. With six targets on the afternoon, Kraft put up just four receptions for 34 yards. Kraft also had one rushing attempt for two yards to convert a fourth-down conversion early on in the game. With the wide array of pass-catchers on the Packers, it can be a bit easier to blend in and with the Lions pressuring quarterback Jordan Love, that's exactly what happened. Kraft and the Packers will have Week 10 off on bye, but will be back on the field in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears. For fantasy purposes, Kraft should be viewed as a low-end TE1 in that matchup.
