Dog of the Day – Betting Picks

One of the best feelings in sports betting is when you research and grind to identify a key mismatch in a game or a futures market to back a plus-money underdog … and it hits! The vindication and reassurance that comes with hitting an underdog play can make you feel on top of the world and I want to bring that feeling to you daily. Welcome to Gilles Gallant’s, aka GDawg’s, “Dog of the Day.”

I’ll provide you with my best bet in a wide variety of sports like NBA, MLB, NFL or NCAA Basketball. This could be a regular-season game or a futures market like “NFL Super Bowl odds.”

Here’s the catch: my pick will only be a plus-money pick. No favorites or any odds that have a minus sign (-) in front of it. The goal is to always double your investment .

My free betting picks will be posted here. If you’ve missed it, you can also check out the FTNBets’ bet tracker, where you can see every official bet I’ve ever made.

Dog of the Day – NBA Picks – June 13

Jayson Tatum Double-Double (+250)
Jordan Poole 15+ PTS (+160)
Kevon Looney 10+ REB (+165)
Sportsbook: Caesars

As we near the end of the NBA Playoffs and the MLB season well underway, readers of “Dog of the Day” can continue to expect plus-money player prop bets and moneyline underdogs. Underdog sides and player props offer tremendous value for bettors like me who loathe taking favorites in basketball and can also offer upside like the way Toronto Blue Jays home run props did last August (13-34 for +6.9U). We’ve gotten back on the Blue Jays HR train early in the 2022 season and are 3-17 for -3.5U. Long season with 50+ home games left to make bank.

Going forward, my best bets for each day will now be available in written or video form:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: “Dog of the Day” at FTNBets.com
  • Wednesday, Friday: “Dawg Day Afternoon” — LIVE at 1 p.m. ET on FTNNetwork YouTube channel

The NBA Finals are almost wrapped up, which means we may only have two (three at most) opportunities to bet on basketball until next season. We’ve got a tremendous opportunity to take advantage of skewed lines for NBA player props.

For June 13, we’re going to focus on the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors with three plus-money props: Jayson Tatum Double-Double at +250, Jordan Poole 15+ points at +160 and Kevon Looney 10+ rebounds at +165.

Here’s what you need to know about Tatum:

  • Two double-doubles in four games in this series
  • Tatum is averaging 7 rebounds and 7.8 assists in the series. Both are first on the Celtics in the NBA Finals.
  • Tatum is averaging a combined 14.8 rebounds and assists in this series, his highest combined total in any playoff series in 2022.
  • In the playoffs when the Celtics are coming off a loss, Tatum is averaging 6.5 rebounds and 6 assists with double-doubles in two of seven games.
  • In four games in this series, Tatum is averaging 11.6 REB chances per game and 12 potential assists per game.
  • Odds were +300 for a double-double in Game 4 (won) and +350 in Game 3.

Here’s what you need to know about Looney:

  • Leads Warriors in NBA Finals with 8.5 rebounds per game and 7.9 per game in playoffs.
  • Looney is sixth in minutes per game on the Warriors despite leading the team in rebounds per game.
  • He’s averaging 13 rebound chances per game (tied for first in NBA Finals) and 4.3 contested rebounds per game (first in NBA Finals).
  • Game 4 was the first time the Celtics were outrebounded in the NBA Finals. Looney finished with 11 rebounds in this game.
  • When Looney plays 25+ minutes in the playoffs (seven games), he averages 12.7 REB per game and 10+ REB in five of them.
  • The Warriors are 6-1 SU in the playoffs when Looney plays 25+ minutes.

Here’s what you need to know about Poole:

  • Has scored 15+ points in four of the last five playoff games at Chase Center.
  • Has scored 15+ points in seven of 11 games at home in the postseason.
  • Third on the Warriors in total shot attempts (10.4) in the NBA Finals behind Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
  • Third on the Warriors in 3PT shot attempts in the NBA Finals behind Curry and Thompson.
  • Scored 29 points vs. the Celtics in one game during the regular season.
  • Coming into the series, the Celtics were only allowing 6.9 3PM shots per playoff game to opposing guards. In the NBA Finals, that’s increased to 10.4 per game.

Bonne Chance!

What are the best betting props for today?

The number of props for a given game to bet on in any league like the NFL, NBA or MLB can be overwhelming for new bettors. For someone just starting, the statistics and angles to consider when wagering on betting props is half the battle and FTNBets is here to help you wage war (figuratively, of course) with Las Vegas and the oddsmakers.

FTNBets has some of the sharpest betting minds in the industry to help you identify the best betting props for every sport. Whether that’s a O/U prop for strikeouts from Jacob deGrom with the New York Mets or if LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers will have a double-double vs. the Boston Celtics.

To ensure you get the best possible betting odds, use FTNBets’ Prop Shop to do odds comparisons and shop around to see what sportsbooks are offering the best value for your betting prop.

Today’s betting odds – MLB, NBA, NFL, CFB, etc.

No matter what sport you regularly bet on, knowing the latest betting odds is crucial for long-term success. Being able to pounce on a favorable spread or total can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing your bet.

With FTNBets, you can track up-to-the-minute betting odds for every game, props and futures market. If you see something you like and want to bet on it, check out our best sportsbooks guide to see which one you can use in your respective state and the type of promotions each offers.

Here are the top sports and the latest betting odds for each:

NFL
NCAAF
NBA
NCAAB
MLB
NHL

If you need help to understand the odds and what payouts each would entail if you win your bet, use our parlay calculator (link) to get you up to speed.

Using FTNBets’ Prop Shop to maximize player prop value

One of the best ways to optimize your prop bets long-term is to have CLV (closing line value) and to ensure you’re getting the best possible value for your wager. Allow us to introduce you to FTNBets’ Prop Shop.

This cutting-edge tool, which is free for all users, compiles a list of every available prop and its betting odds from sportsbooks available in your state. This way, you don’t have to have multiple tabs or windows open in your browser to do an odds comparison.

Let’s pretend you’re from New Jersey and want to bet on Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to win NFL MVP for the 2021 regular season. If you go to the Prop Shop and enter his name into the field, here’s what would come up before the season starts:

As you can see, there are six different online sportsbooks that offer NFL MVP futures and each has varied odds. The key for the Prop Shop tool is to see which sportsbook has the best odds and provides the biggest bang for your buck. For this example, BetMGM is offering the highest odds (+500) while offering a promotion of a $600 free bet when you sign up. It’s that simple.

Even if you don’t make the bet today, this tool can still be utilized as a reference point to start your daily handicapping while getting a feel for the types of odds available for a respective prop.
