These are two teams in completely different positions in terms of their franchise’s expectations (and abilities) this season, as the Jaguars sit at 0-2 in the midst of a rebuild while the Cardinals sit at 2-0 with one of the most potent offenses in football.

- Cardinals -7.5
- Total: 51.5
Opening Odds – Cardinals vs. Jaguars
A total of 51.5 is one of the highest on the slate and it makes sense, as the Cardinals have averaged 36 points per game through their first two contests while the Jaguars have (predictably) bled production on the defensive end. The Cardinals being favored by just over a touchdown also makes sense, as their offensive weapons should simply overpower this defense while their revitalized front seven with Chandler Jones and JJ Watt on defense could force Trevor Lawrence into some sloppy play.
Quarterback Analysis – Kyler Murray vs. Trevor Lawrence
Murray has been a transcendent player over the last season and his play through the first two games has been reminiscent of his remarkable 2020 play before his injury. Through two games, he’s accounted for seven touchdowns through the air and two on the ground while averaging 344.5 passing yards and 25.5 rushing yards per game. With the Jags allowing 291 passing yards per game, Murray profiles as someone who will give them fits for four quarters.
On the flip side, we’ve seen flashes of brilliance from Lawrence, but also have seen instances that remind us that he’s still a rookie through the first two games. He’s completed under 55% of his passes through the first two games with more interceptions (5) than touchdowns (4), but could see brighter days against the Cardinals, as their defense was picked apart by Kirk Cousins in Week 2.
Latest Cardinals Betting News & Info
Rondale Moore has been everything that was advertised and more so far for the Cardinals, trailing only DeAndre Hopkins in target share after leading the team in targets and yards in Week 2. While he should be able to feast against this Jacksonville secondary, they also don’t have the pieces to contain Hopkins, so we could see an all-out aerial attack here.
Moore is someone I have a lot of interest in when it comes to the prop market, as his reception prop in Week 2 (2.5) was an easy over. If it comes out at 4.5 or less, it’s an over that I would feel confident in.
Latest Jaguars Betting News & Info
Week 2 was an interesting one for the Jags, especially looking at the box score. Lawrence only threw for 118 total yards on 33 attempts and Laviska Shenault, who finished second on the team in targets (7), ended up with -3 yards. No, that’s not a typo.
The Jaguars have a lot to clean up if they hope to even keep up with the Cardinals offense and given their inconsistencies, this is an offense that I feel comfortable staying away from in Week 3, and frankly, until we see a bit of stability out of Trevor Lawrence.
Cardinals @ Jaguars Betting Picks – NFL Week 3
Because of how much I believe in both the offense of the Cardinals and the revitalization of their front seven, I simply do not think the Jaguars will be able to keep up on either side of the ball in this game. Because of that, I view a touchdown-sized spread as a value in favor of the Cardinals.
Here are our betting picks for Cardinals @ Jaguars in Week 3.
