New York Giants release Golden Tate

The New York Giants released veteran wide receiver Golden Tate Wednesday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Tate is coming off a season where he played in 12 games and secured 35 receptions for 388 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2020.

Fantasy slant: Once a reliable PPR wideout with the occasional flare for upside, Tate is now very much on the wrong side of 30. The veteran is coming off a sluggish 2020 campaign where he managed just 35 catches in 12 games played. Of course, credit where credit is due. Tate offered WR2 value at times in his stints with the Seahawks and Lions. However, he isn't long for the fantasy radar at this point in his career. This move also clears out space for the Giants to get younger at the position. They're a good bet to get some new weapons for Daniel Jones via free agency and/or the draft.
