BREAKING NEWS: Cowboys, QB Dak Prescott agree to a deal

Share

The Dallas Cowboys won’t have a hole at the quarterback position for the 2021 season, it seems, as reports came out Monday evening that the team and Dak Prescott have agreed to a deal to keep Prescott under center.

Prescott was off to an electric start to the 2020 season, with 1,856 yards and 9 touchdowns in five games, before a severe ankle injury in Week 5 knocked him out for the rest of the season. He was fantasy’s QB1 (with two weekly No. 1 finishes and a No. 4) through Week 4 before his Week 5 injury. In five years in Dallas, Prescott hadn’t missed a single game before the leg injury, and he finished as the QB6, QB11, QB10 and QB2 in his four full seasons.

Fantasy slant: After endless speculation and contrived drama, Jerry Jones finally backed up the luxury yacht and signed his franchise quarterback, Dak Prescott, to a much deserved extension. Now with the QB locked up long-term, the immediate question regarding the newly wealthy signal caller is how will his recovery from a gruesome ankle injury will impact his ability to run. It’s an unanswerable question at the moment, but the system continuity and sensational surrounding weapons in Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup and Ezekiel Elliott, certainly lends confidence he’ll return to a top-seven level, at a minimum. Recall prior to the setback, he ranked top-five in deep-ball completion percentage and yards per attempt. Toss in Dallas’ rebuilding defense and Dak is in prime position to profit this fall. – Brad Evans
