Our fantasy football rankers are some of the best in the business, but that doesn’t mean they always agree. Twice a week, our rankers will highlight some names they are furthest from the staff consensus fantasy rankings on and explain why you should either be targeting those players or steering clear in your 2024 drafts.
3 You’re Too Low On for 2024
Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Staff ranking: WR36
My ranking: WR32
At the moment, Chris Godwin is arguably my favorite player to select in fantasy drafts right now. So, yeah, if you ask me, you’re probably too low on him. While Mike Evans had the better season in 2023, Godwin wasn’t too far behind in terms of usage. He posted a 24% target share and 22% target per route run rate (25% and 24% for Evans), while Godwin actually saw a higher percentage of the targets on third/fourth down (30%). Of course, scoring just twice on 130 targets doesn’t help, though that certainly feels like an outlier if you ask me. Entering the 2024 campaign, Godwin is expected to return to his slot role, which has always been more comfortable to him. This past season, Godwin lined up in the slot just 37.4% of the time, way down from his 2022 rate of 73%. Both of Godwin’s touchdowns from last year came from the slot, while averaging 13.6 yards per catch and 2.11 yards per route run.
