Our fantasy football rankers are some of the best in the business, but that doesn’t mean they always agree. Twice a week, our rankers will highlight some names they are furthest from the staff consensus fantasy rankings on and explain why you should either be targeting those players or steering clear in your 2024 drafts.
3 You’re Too High On for 2024
Chris Olave, WR, New Orleans Saints
Staff ranking: 16th overall, WR11
My ranking: 20th overall, WR17
It is a yearly occurrence that we go through and paint a pretty picture for Chris Olave only for him to disappoint us. Over the past two seasons, he has yet to finish higher than the WR19 in half-PPR scoring, yet this is the second season we see him being touted as a top-12 option by many. Not me, though. He is coming off two productive seasons where he has amassed 2,165 receiving yards on 159 receptions. His 138 targets were 13th in the league last year, and his 21.5% target share ranked 16th, per FTN data. Despite this significant role, he only hauled in 87 of these targets (albeit for an impressive 1,123 yards). Looking beyond the surface we see he was inefficient on a per-route basis, only managing a 2.1 YPRR, tied for 24th in the league. Notably, he struggled to find the end zone for the second straight season, only scoring 5 times. When all of this came together, he was only able to post a WR19 finish in half-PPR scoring with 187.8 points.
