3 You’re Too High On for 2024

Stroud may be the best next franchise quarterback bet, but his debut season wasn’t perfect. His performances ebbed and flowed with the difficulty of his opponents. Stroud averaged an exceptional 333 passing yards and 2.4 passing touchdowns in his five games against bottom-10 defenses. But he averaged a modest 177 yards and 0.7 touchdowns in three starts against top 10 defenses. That isn’t an unusual split for a quarterback. But Stroud faces the biggest projected increase in schedule difficulty among the returning starters. The Texans drew five top 10 defenses in the Bills, Jets, Cowboys, Chiefs and Ravens on their 2024 docket, the latter two in Weeks 16 and 17 of the fantasy playoffs. Stroud has the talent to level up and overcome his harder schedule. But his top five quarterback ranking undersells his downside in fantasy.
