It was a slow start to Jamari Thrash’s college career, taking three years to top 500 yards receiving. However, in 2022, he broke out with a Sun Belt-leading 1,122 receiving yards and seven scores on 61 receptions for Georgia State. Prior to the start of this season, Thrash transferred to Louisville, where he continued his success catching a career-high 63 receptions but failed to top 1,000 yards.

Thrash is a slightly undersized player who has a knack for creating separation quickly and often. He has a strong release that often leaves press defenders grabbing for air. That release, a mature route tree, fluidity and suddenness allow him to completely lose defenders at times. He also shows the ability to weaponize his tremendous speed on curl and comeback routes, driving defenders off with ease before snapping the route off on a dime. This speed and manipulation of speed can also be seen on the slower developing routes where he can run away from defenders and take the top off the defense. His maturity and creativity also shine through in scramble drills where he has a knack for getting wide open.

At the catch point, Thrash has shown soft but strong hands with an ability to catch outside his frame. He had displayed a good catch radius digging balls off the turf and high pointing the ball. We also see him work back to the ball no matter the route limiting the ability for defenders to jump routes. Now, he leaves some to be desired in contest situations, but this is not surprising considering his frame and lack of physicality. In addition, he possesses good body control and sideline awareness which allows him to make impressive tight window catches.

After the catch he shows creativity, which helps lead to plenty of yards after the catch, allowing his speed and quickness to really shine through. You don’t want to get caught sleeping when covering him as it’s likely going to be six points if you do. In the screen game he does get caught lacking patience sometimes and leaves some yards on the field. He has also coughed the ball up a few times in his career, so he will need to improve in this area.

Jamari Thrash is going to have a significant range of outcomes, largely due to not being completely polished. He has a game that will translate well to the NFL, but he could get pigeonholed to a specific role. The Combine and pro-days will be critical for him to prove his versatility, if he can do this there will be an avenue to above-average fantasy success.
