New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby (foot) has been diagnosed with a mild foot sprain, head coach Tom Thibodeau announced ahead of Monday's game against the Houston Rockets. He will miss Monday's contest and is currently considered day-to-day. The Knicks are also set to play the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, so it wouldn't be surprising if Anunoby misses multiple games. Precious Achiuwa figures to handle most of Anunoby's minutes, while Miles McBride may also see an increased role in the rotation.
New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby (foot) is questionable for Monday's matchup with the Rockets. The 27-year-old exited Saturday's loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Fortunately, X-rays were negative. But the sprained foot could keep him off the floor for at least Monday's game. If that's the case, Precious Achiuwa, coming off a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double against the Lakers, may enter the starting lineup, giving him streaming appeal for any fantasy setup.
New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby (foot) exited Saturday's 128-112 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He was having a solid outing before suffering a non-contact right-foot injury, amassing 13 points and two blocks in only 17 minutes of action. Head coach Tom Thibodeau stated X-rays were negative. However, Thibs didn't know if Anunoby will receive an MRI. The 27-year-old, who was limited to only 50 games last season between stints with the Raptors and Knicks, has averaged 16.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals. It's unknown if he'll suit up when the Knicks play the Rockets on Monday night. If Anunoby isn't out there, Precious Achiuwa, who had a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double against the Lakers, will likely enter the starting lineup.
Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, New York Knicks forwardOG Anunobyintends to sign a five-year, $212.5 million contract extension with the Knicks. The extension includes a player option and trade kicker. He became an unrestricted free agent bydeclining the player optionfor the final season of the four-year, $72 million contract he inked with Toronto in 2020. Anunoby averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 34.9 minutes during 23 contests for New York in the regular season. The 26-year-old was sidelined for most of the final two months of the regular season with a loose bone fragment in his right elbowthat required surgery.
New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby declined his $19.9 million player option on Monday, putting him in line to hit unrestricted free agency on June 30. Anunoby began the 2023-24 campaign by appearing in 27 games for the Toronto Raptors. But he was dealt to New York ahead of the trade deadline, where he averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.7 steals. Unfortunately, the 26-year-old was limited to only 23 appearances with the Knicks during the regular season because of an elbow issue. Anunoby also missed time in the postseason because of a hamstring injury. Without question, the 2017 No. 23 overall pick was a difference maker for the Knicks, so the team will do everything possible to keep him. However, he's expected to double his annual salary on the open market.
