Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo (toe) luckily avoided surgery on his toe and will miss at least three weeks. According to ESPN's Tim Bontemps, the Villanova product will not need surgery and the medical staff will re-evaluate him in that three-week timeline. Unfortunately, DiVincenzo was hitting the best stride of his season right before getting hurt, and the timetable brings him to right around All-Star Weekend. In the meantime, Mike Conley and Nickeil Alexander-Walker will split the available minutes. Conley would be the more consistent streaming option despite some lower averages with 8.1 points, 4.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.

ESPN's Shams Charania reports that the former 17th-overall pick was put in a boot on Monday and there is no timetable for his return while he seeks out an additional opinion. DiVincenzo was starting to find his stride with the team and averaged 11.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Mike Conley and Nickeil Alexander-Walker will likely see some added playing time while he's sidelined.

However, he's played well of late, most recently amassing a season-high 28 points with nine assists and six boards in a recent game against the Warriors. Unfortunately, DiVincenzo will now miss his second consecutive contest because of a great toe sprain. Mike Conley, who filled the hole in the lineup in Friday's win over New York and ended the night with 13 points, will likely re-enter the starting lineup. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Naz Reid should also see more work from off the bench.

Friday night should have marked DiVincenzo's return to Madison Square Garden, but he has sprained his left big toe, which will keep the 27-year-old sidelined for at least one game. The Timberwolves have three games scheduled over the next four days, so DiVincenzo could miss out on a fair bit of action if he doesn't shake off the injury quickly. With DiVincenzo out, we will likely see Mike Conley back in the starting unit. More work should also be available for Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
