Bryce McGowens Joining Portland

The Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly signed guard Bryce McGowens to a two-way deal. The 21-year-old was waived by the Charlotte Hornets after averaging 24.5 points in a pair of Summer League games. McGowens averaged 5.1 points and 1.7 rebounds through 59 games with the Hornets last season. He'll head into a crowded Blazers rotation that already has a ton of young wings. It's hard to imagine McGowens having legitimate fantasy value next season.

Jalen Brunson Agrees To A Contract Extension

New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson agreed to a four-year, $156.6 million contract extension with the team. He could have received more. However, the 27-year-old took less money to give the front office flexibility to improve the team even more. Brunson is coming off a stellar 2023-24 campaign, averaging a career-high 28.7 points with 6.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds. He also shot 40.1% from deep and appeared in 77 contests. Without question, the 2018 No. 33 overall pick has become one of the best players in the National Basketball Association, and his MVP upside makes him an attractive fantasy commodity heading into the 2024-25 season.

Clippers Interested In Tyus Jones

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto, the Los Angeles Clippers are interested in free agent guard Tyus Jones. The former Duke Blue Devil spent last season with the Wizards, averaging a career-high 12.0 points, 7.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals while shooting 41.4% from deep. However, Jones' numbers would likely decline if he heads to Los Angeles, especially if he comes off the bench. Still, he would likely play enough minutes and draw some starts during the 2024-25 campaign, so he'll continue to have value for fantasy managers.

Kenyon Martin Jr. Staying In Philly

Free-agent forward Kenyon Martin Jr. agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract to remain with the 76ers. The 2020 No. 52 overall pick appeared in two games for the Clippers last season before getting moved to Philadelphia in the James Harden trade. Unfortunately, he averaged a career-low 3.7 points for Philly. With that said, Martin could get more minutes with the Sixers during the 2024-25 campaign, so his statistical contributions could improve. There's also a chance he'll be traded at some point during the season. Either way, Martin won't draw interest from fantasy managers until he starts to produce consistently. However, that's not expected to happen anytime soon.

Jake LaRavia Leads All Scorers Versus Sacramento

Memphis Grizzlies forward Jake LaRavia recorded a game-high 22 points in Friday's Summer League win over Sacramento. The 22-year-old had five turnovers in this one. However, he made up for it by amassing six steals. LaRavia is coming off a decent 2023-24 campaign, averaging a career-high 10.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 34.0% shooting from behind the arc. Granted, most of the roster was injured late in the season. But LaRavia should get minutes again for the Grizzlies during year, although he likely won't be a consistent fantasy provider.
