Chicago White Sox -170 @ Seattle Mariners +140 — O/U 8.5
The White Sox can complete the three-game sweep in Seattle with a win against the Mariners. They’ve outscored them 16-4 in the series so far and they’re in a great spot to rack up a few more runs. Justin Dunn is scheduled to make his first start of the season for Seattle, and although he only has 52.1 innings on his MLB resume, it’s been a rough start for the right-handed pitcher.
Dunn only has a 7.39 K/9 for his career to go along with a 6.88 BB/9. He checks in with a 4.13 ERA but a 6.47 xFIP, which shows he’s actually been a bit lucky despite almost having more walks than strikeouts. Dunn has a 47.2% fly-ball rate, 43.4% hard-hit rate, and an 80% contact rate, which are all red flags for a pitcher. Chicago enters today with the highest team implied total on the board and their eight home runs are tied for the sixth-most in baseball. They also rank inside the top 10 in wOBA.
Dallas Keuchel gets the ball for the White Sox, and even though he has a mediocre 7.11 K/9 for his career, this is a good spot for him to improve on that number. The Mariners’ 31.4 K% is the fourth highest (39.6% against lefties is third highest), and their 13.7 SwStr% ranks sixth so far. Keuchel has a rock-solid 58.6% ground ball rate and 3.60 ERA for his career. He should get plenty of run support, so consider Chicago on the run line (1.5) at -105 at Tipico.
Prediction: 7-1, Chicago
Best bet: CWS -1.5 (-105)
Others to consider: SF @ SD U 7.5; STL -125; LAD -1.5 -110; ARI @ COL O 11.5
