PrizePicks for September 4

There are plenty of different baseball props to choose from Friday on PrizePicks, and there’s a lot of money to be made. You can pick your choice of MLB, NBA, NHL, MMA, NASCAR and LOL. As you’ll see below, I’ll be focusing on MLB and NHL with today’s picks.

Speaking of “PrizePicks,” it is a creative new way to parlay picks based on expected fantasy point production.

The format is simple. You pick two, three or four players and predict whether or not they will go over or under their projected fantasy point total.

When parlaying the players, the larger your parlay, the better the payout:

  • Two-pick entry pays 2.5x (max entry: $400)
  • Three-pick entry pays 5x (max entry: $200)
  • Four-pick entry pays 10x (max entry: $100)

As a bonus offer, there is a “flex play” option if you choose to run a four-man parlay. This will provide some security, as you can earn 1.5x your buy-in if three of your four picks hit.

Below are my top PrizePicks for Friday’s slate in MLB and NHL. I will be mixing and matching my pick combinations from the pool below, with my favorite combination(s) also included.

I’m attacking two contact pitchers in Jake Arrieta (84%) and Rick Porcello (87%) as the 10.0 run total between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies doesn’t feel high enough. Arrieta enters with a 42% hard hit rate and 28% line drive rate, while Porcello has a 44 HH% and 26 LD%. Conforto is hitting .354 against right-handed pitchers and Bryce Harper has four home runs vs RHP.

As for Dane Dunning, he was my let’s get nuts pitcher last weekend and he delivered in just his second MLB start. As you’ll see below, he’s been good and if he finishes with six innings and six strikeouts he’ll cruise past 27.5 fantasy points. He tossed five no-hit innings against the Royals last week and came away with seven strikeouts, good for 36 fantasy points. Even if he allows two runs, he’ll top the PP point total. He’s had 73 and 79 pitches in his two starts so he may creep into the mid-80s if all goes well and he has the offense to back him up, so he may just get his first win.
