The MLB season is off to a great start filled with lots of excitement, as well as some strong performances from players we have mentioned in this article.
With Prediction Strike, we can buy and sell players stocks much like the actual stock market, and in doing so we are able to create portfolios. However, unlike DFS or sports betting, these can also be long-term investments. Considering that long-term angle, we can take advantage of some of the things unique to baseball, such as players changing teams at an incredibly high rate over the offseason and hundreds of exciting prospects, some of whom may even make big impacts in the MLB this season. But with the increased size of MLB rosters and players who receive regular playing time, we get increased opportunity to find some overlooked diamonds in the rough.
With all of that being said, I have two names for you to take a look at over on Prediction Strike.
Prediction Strike Pick: Corbin Burnes
Corbin Burnes got off to a tough start to the season with two poor starts, resulting in a drop in this stock price. However, he bounced back with a solid third outing Tuesday, and there’s still more room for growth on his price. Keep in mind, Burnes was arguably the best pitcher in baseball for a two-year stretch, including his Cy Young-winning season in 2021, so we know the talent is there, and overreactions to slow and/or hot starts can add bias to markets, which open up buy-low (or sell-high) spots.
Prediction Strike Pick: Anthony Volpe
Anthony Volpe impressed enough in spring training to make the Yankees’ Opening Day roster and starting lineup, and now it appears he’s going to have a shot at the leadoff slot from time to time. It’ll be interesting to see if the rookie batting leadoff is strictly going to come when DJ LeMahieu gets time off, or is this is where they like him. But regardless, it’s adds to the ceiling Volpe has.
