Making his Dodger regular season debut, starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow went five innings in a no-decision in Wednesday's Opening Day contest in Seoul, South Korea versus the San Diego Padres. Glasnow was a big acquisition by the club from the Tampa Bay Rays this offseason and tossed five innings. In those five innings, Glasnow allowed five hits, two runs, four walks and struck out three. It wasn't the eye-popping numbers that managers are accustomed to with Glasnow, but pitchers tend to start slower than hitters in most seasons. The four walks were up and the three K's were down, but managers shouldn't have reason to worry. Glasnow will be a big piece for both the Dodgers and managers this season with his only knock being that he hasn't been durable throughout his career.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow continued his strong spring with a big outing against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. One of the Dodgers newly acquired rotation pieces, the 30-year-old had his longest outing of the Cactus League with 5 1/3 innings of hitless baseball with one walk and eight strikeouts. Performance has never been the issue for Glasnow as a professional, but health has and his 120 innings in 2023 was his career-high and most thrown since 2018, a year in which he threw 111 2/3 innings. Glasnow has extreme upside with his ability to rack up strikeouts and limit walks. It also helps that he is on a Dodger team that projects to have plenty of victories in 2024. As always with Glasnow, the risk is worth the reward, but managers shouldn't stretch to get the talented right-hander with his injury history.
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitchers Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto will pitch the first and second games of the regular season, respectively in Korea against the San Diego Padres. Glasnow has looked sharp so far this spring, while Yamamoto has struggled in limited appearances. Both pitchers should serve as high-end fantasy options this season, as Yamamoto was perhaps the most hyped free-agent pitcher this off-season and Glasnow has shown dominance in the big leagues when he was healthy with the Rays.
Both Los Angeles Dodgers right-handers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow are being lined up to pitch in the two-game series in Korea against the division-rival San Diego Padres on March 20-21. Yamamoto is scheduled to throw three to four innings against the Chicago White Sox in a Cactus League game on Wednesday, while Glasnow will go four innings in a B game. Both Yamamoto and Glasnow will be low-end No. 1 starting options for fantasy managers in the early rounds of upcoming fantasy drafts. The 25-year-old Yamamoto was dominant in Japan and is expected to have a seamless transition in the States in 2024 while serving as LA's ace. Glasnow has already showed dominance in the big leagues with the Rays, but staying healthy has been his issue.
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow is scheduled to make his spring debut with his new team on Sunday versus the Los Angeles Angels. It will be the first in-game view of Glasnow in a Dodgers uniform after he was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays in December. The oft-injured 30-year-old made a career-high 21 starts in the 2023 season and worked to a 3.53 ERA across 120 innings of work. When healthy, Glasnow is a top-tier starter but he made just 16 starts from 2021-2022 and poses significant injury risk for fantasy managers. At the same time, he sports a career 30.9% K% and 21.2% K-BB%, making him an interesting decision for fantasy managers on draft day.
