The Cleveland Guardians have right-hander Slade Cecconi (groin) listed as their probable start for Saturday's contest against the Los Angeles Angels. Cecconi was scratched from his scheduled outing on Wednesday in the series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now he'll get a much more favorable matchup this weekend in what will be just his third start of the season. The 25-year-old former first-rounder (33rd overall) by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2020 out of Miami opened the season on the injured list with an oblique strain, but he's now a member of Cleveland's starting rotation and has been solid so far with a 3.27 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 14 punchouts in 11 innings pitched. The Angels rank 17th in the league with a .693 OPS, making Cecconi a prime streaming candidate despite his recent groin injury that wasn't very serious.

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Slade Cecconi (groin) will no longer start Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, reports Carly Mascitti of News 5 Cleveland. He's dealing with mild groin tightness, which became an issue after his previous start on Friday. It's not yet known whether he will be pushed back a couple of days or have this start skipped entirely. No matter when it is, Cecconi will look to continue a solid start to the season, as he's allowed only four runs over 11 innings while striking out 14 through his first two appearances.

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Slade Cecconi fired six innings of one-run ball in Friday's 3-1 win against the Detroit Tigers. He yielded five hits and two walks while striking out six batters to earn his first quality start -- improving to 1-1. The 25-year-old landed 56 of 84 pitches for strikes and compiled an excellent 36% CSW for the second straight start. Cecconi was outstanding, with a Spencer Torkelson solo home run accounting for the only damage against him. That marks back-to-back solid starts against strong lineups for him since his return from an oblique injury. He'll bring a cool 3.27 ERA and 1.09 WHIP into a third straight difficult outing against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers next week.

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi will make another start in Friday's series opener against the division-rival Detroit Tigers in Motown. Cecconi will stick in the starting rotation in Cleveland for a second turn after an impressive debut with the team last Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds in which he gave up three earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking none and striking out eight in five innings pitched. The 25-year-old got a late start in 2025 due to a strained left oblique, but he could stick around as a starter for the Guardians until Ben Lively (elbow) comes off the 15-day injured list. Cecconi will have a tough matchup as he looks for a second strong outing, making him a risky fantasy streamer on Friday. The first-place Tigers currently have the sixth-best OPS (.744) in the big leagues entering action this weekend.

Cleveland Guardians right-hander Slade Cecconi (oblique) is set to be activated from the injured list in order to start on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds in what will be his Guardians debut, according to MLB.com's Tim Stebbins. This will also be Cecconi's first start of 2025 after he suffered a strained left oblique back in spring training. The 25-year-old former 33rd overall pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks will for the time being take Ben Lively's (forearm) spot in the starting rotation, but he'll be a shaky fantasy streamer this weekend against a very capable Reds lineup in a hitter-friendly ballpark in Cincy. Cecconi had a 4.85 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 10 strikeouts and two walks in 13 innings over his three rehab starts for Triple-A Columbus. His 18.7% strikeout rate in two MLB seasons leaves plenty to be desired. Cecconi had a 6.66 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 20 outings (13 starts) for Arizona in 2024.
