Across 127 games, he held a solid .278/.375/.472 slash line with 29 doubles and 19 long balls. If he can continue to turn the corner, he could be in the mix to earn a promotion in the coming months.

The three-hit performance only brought his batting average up to .250 (5-for-20), but with a double, a triple, and a home run included in those five total hits, the 22-year-old is slugging .550. The left-handed hitter spent all of 2024 at Triple-A, and though he hit .278 with 19 home runs and a strong .375 OBP due to a high walk rate, he struck out at a 28.4 percent rate. The former second-round draft pick is faringeven worse to begin 2025, striking out nine times in 22 plate appearances (40.9 percent). The Cubs don't have a need for Caissie in the outfield at the moment and would surely like to see him get the strikeouts under control before throwinghim into the fire in the big leagues, not to mention it could be prospect Kevin Alcantara who gets the call before him, but the 6-foot-3 slugger still has a good shot to make his major league debut later this season and could hold value in NL-only leagues.

However, the No. 3 prospect in the Chicago system covered right field and batted in the two-hole in the season opener. He launched a 426-foot solo blast in the seventh inning. Last season, Caissie spent the entire campaign with Triple-A Iowa. Across 127 contests, the former second-round pick posted a .278/.375/.472 slash line with 29 doubles and 19 long balls. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his production at Triple-A, as he should be in the mix for a promotion early in the 2025 season.

Chicago Cubs outfield prospect Owen Caissie was optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday as the team made the first round of roster cuts. Although Caissie is one of the Cubs' top prospects, it wasn't surprising to see him get sent down since the Cubs are currently set in the outfield with Ian Happ, Kyle Tucker, and Pete Crow-Armstrong, in addition to the fact that Caissie had been shut down last week due to left-groin tightness. The team also has outfield prospect Kevin Alcantara, who is knocking the cover off of the ball this spring and could be called upon if needed. The left-handed hitting Caissie has plenty of pop in his bat, belting 19 home runs last season at Triple-A in 127 games, and also offers strong on-base potential with his ability to draw walks, owning a superb 13.8 percent walk rate in his minor league career. Redraft managers will want to be ready to pluck the 22-year-old off the waiver wire as soon as he gets the call to the big leagues and may even consider stashing if Crow-Armstrong starts off slow.
