The Chicago White Sox announced on Friday that they designated infielder Jacob Amaya for assignment and added infielder Vinny Capra to the active 26-man roster in a corresponding move. The team also acquired right-hander Miguel Castro from the Houston Astros and selected his contract from Triple-A Charlotte. Left-hander Jared Schuster was optioned to Charlotte. The 26-year-old Amaya started the year as the team's starting shortstop but now finds himself off the 40-man roster after going 6-for-62 (.097) with no homers, seven RBI, six runs scored, two steals, two walks and 15 strikeouts in 33 games for Chicago. If he clears waivers, he could return to the organization as minor-league depth. Moving forward, the Pale Hose will use Brooks Baldwin as their primary option at the 6, with prospect Chase Meidroth being another option.

In 28 career games, he's slashed .182/.222/.195 with no home runs and two stolen bases. Without a secure role, there's no fantasy interest tied to Amaya at this point.

Amaya is returning to the White Sox after he was designated for assignment earlier this offseason and claimed by Baltimore. The 26-year-old will once again provide organizational infield depth for the Pale Hose in 2025 and will most likely begin the year at Triple-A Charlotte. The former 11th-round selection of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2017 played in 24 games for the White Sox and Houston Astros in 2024 and went 12-for-68 (.176) with no homers, three RBI, a steal, four runs scored and 28 strikeouts in 72 trips to the plate. He's nowhere near the fantasy radar.

According to Roch Kubatko of MASN.com, the Baltimore Orioles have designated infielder Jacob Amaya for assignment. This transaction opened a roster spot for outfielder Dylan Carlson, who the team signed to a one-year contract earlier on Monday. The Orioles claimed Amaya off waivers earlier this offseason. Last summer, Amaya made 24 big league appearances with the White Sox and Houston Astros and held a .176/.222/.191 line. He hit just one extra-base hit and held a 4:28 BB:K ratio. Across 288 contests at the Triple-A level, the 26-year-old infielder has posted a .246/.342/.380 line with 28 home runs and 15 stolen bases. Fantasy managers should expect Amaya to spend most of the 2025 campaign at the Triple-A level, given his lack of success in the majors.
