Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Chris Bassitt was solid in a 3-0 win over the Padres on Tuesday, pitching six shutout innings while striking out six. He allowed four hits and walked one. This was his third quality start of the year, and it was nice to see him go six innings. He has started the sixth inning and been pulled without finishing it on five separate occasions this year, which hurts in leagues that reward quality starts. Still, he's been great this season as a whole, posting a 2.83 ERA with 61 strikeouts and 11 walks in 57 innings. His next start is lined up to be against the Rays on the road.

Bassitt had little issues in this game as he struck out 10 batters while allowing only three hits across five scoreless innings on Wednesday. He exited the game after 90 pitches, but did enough in this one to earn himself the win. The rest of the bullpen picked up where Bassitt left off as they recorded a franchise record 19 strikeouts during Wednesday's game. Bassitt has been unbelievable early in the season with only two earned runs across four starts. He's going to be a popular waiver wire addition after this outing.

The veteran struck out five batters and walked one over 5.2 innings of work -- narrowly missing his third quality start. Bassitt pitched well again, stifling the Red Sox through five innings. He ran into trouble in the sixth, though, walking outfielder Jaren Durran, who would eventually steal second and score on an Alex Bregman single. The right-hander has been excellent thus far in 2025 -- holding a sterling 0.98 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with a 21:3 K:BB ratio in 18.1 innings. Statcast thinks he may be over-performing his metrics, but Bassitt has started another season off on the right foot. If it holds, the right-hander's 28.8% strikeout rate would be the highest of his career.

Through two turns in the rotation -- one at home and one on the road -- the veteran has looked good, posting a 0.71 ERA (0.89 FIP), 1.11 WHIP, and a 27.5 percent K-BB% (2:16 BB:K). Coming off a year in which he posted the worst full-season ERA and WHIP of his career, this was not to be expected, but with a solid career ERA of 3.56 and 1.23 WHIP, he's always been fairly good. However, looking closer, from April 9 to June 29 last season, the righty posted a 2.76 ERA before fading to a 5.38 ERA from July on. Fantasy managers may want to consider packaging Bassitt up in a trade, as there's sure to be some regression coming. The former All-Star will take on the Red Sox on the road in his next start on Thursday.

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt led the Blue Jays to a 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday to help salvage a split in their four-game series. He recorded his first win of the season, allowed eight hits, one run, and two walks, and had seven strikeouts over six innings of work. Bassitt was able to scatter those eight hits and get out of traffic quite often on the afternoon against a solid lineup. Bassitt will look to keep it rolling next weekend, when he is tentatively lined up to face the New York Mets on the road. Fantasy managers can continue to rely on Bassitt until proven otherwise, as he is a veteran pitcher who knows how to pitch in the big leagues.
