Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon stuffed the stat sheet in a 6-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Blackmon went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, two runs, and a stolen base in the win. The veteran outfielder is now batting .259 with two homers, 28 runs, 25 RBI, and five steals across 193 at-bats in 2024. He has been on a hot streak of late, batting .357 with two steals over his past seven games. Blackmon isn't the fantasy force he once was but he's worth a spot in starting lineups while he's hot.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's afternoon contest against the visiting San Diego Padres. It's not surprising to see the club give the veteran a spell in an afternoon game following an evening game on Wednesday in which Blackmon led off as the designated hitter and went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his club's 5-2 loss. The 37-year-old is off to a sluggish start this season, hitting .228 with one homer, one stolen base, and a .659 OPS across 86 trips to the plate. At this point, Blackmon's power and speed just aren't there and he should be left on the waiver wire in all fantasy formats, including NL-only leagues.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (illness) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Rockies' manager Bud Black said Blackmon is feeling under the weather, so they will hold him out of this contest. The expectation is that this will be a one-game absence for the veteran outfielder. In the meantime, Kris Bryant will function as the designated hitter, while Elehuris Montero covers first base versus right-hander Kevin Gausman on Friday.
Colorado Rockies outfielders Kris Bryant and Charlie Blackmon will both take a seat for Sunday's series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It appears to be a regular off day for both veteran players. Bryant was hitless through his first three games of 2024, striking out a whopping seven times across 12 plate appearances. Blackmon fared a bit better, going 3-for-11 with three RBI and a stolen base. Bryant and Blackmon are not the fantasy stalwarts they once were, but both possess discounted upside and Coors Field exposure. In their absence, Jake Cave is starting in right field while Michael Toglia will man first base.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Chicago Cubs in Thursday's Cactus League matchup. The veteran is entering his 14th season, all with Colorado and has looked good this spring with a .333 batting, two homers and six RBI in 39 at-bats. At age 37, Blackmon may have to succumb some playing time to younger players on a rebuilding Rockies team, but he can still be useful during long stretches at Coors Field. Even with a nice spring, there should be players with bigger upsides towards the end of deep league drafts.
