The Colorado Rockies announced on Saturday that they reinstated outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list and optioned outfielder Sean Bouchard to Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Blackman is immediately being put back in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox as well, serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff against White Sox right-hander Jonathan Cannon. The 37-year-old veteran will return for the first time since straining his right hamstring on June 18 against the Los Angeles Dodgers following a minimal stay on the IL. Blackmon is no longer an All-Star caliber player and only has three home runs on the year, but he was heating up at the plate before his injury and is hoping to pick up where he left off atop Colorado's lineup on Saturday.
Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black said on Tuesday that outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) "is doing better" and "looks like he will be able to make it in the 10-day period." Blackmon stayed in Denver and is working out there rather than joining the team on their road trip to Houston, according to Black, adding that Blackmon will meet the team in Chicago and "more than likely be activated on the first day he is eligible." His IL placement was backdated to June 19, so he can return on Friday for the series opener against the White Sox. The four-time All-Star is no longer at his peak, especially in the power department, but he's still serviceable for outfield depth in deep-mixed fantasy leagues. Blackmon will return to a .266/.337/.410 triple-slash line with three homers, 26 RBI and five steals when the Rockies activate him this weekend.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday. The veteran outfielder will miss some time after battling a lingering hamstring issue over the last week. This is bad timing with Blackmon hitting over .300 in the last two weeks. In a corresponding move, outfielder Sam Hilliard has been recalled from Triple-A. The Rockies will likely use a committee approach to fill the void. Sean Bouchard will cover right field and bat seventh on Friday.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup on Friday against the visiting Washington Nationals. Sean Bouchard will make another start in right field and will hit sixth against Nationals rookie left-hander DJ Herz. Blackmon will be out of the lineup for the third straight game due to right-hamstring tightness. If he is unable to make an appearance in the weekend series against the Nats, there's a good chance Blackmon will need to go on the injured list. The veteran outfielder has lost a lot of his power and only has three home runs on the year while batting .266 (59-for-222) with 26 RBI, five stolen bases and 34 runs scored. Bouchard will be a deep DFS sleeper at the bottom of the Rockies' lineup. In 81 at-bats, he has 16 hits for an average under the Mendoza Line with one dinger, seven RBI and four thefts.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon (hamstring) will start on the bench again on Thursday in the series finale against the visiting division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. Blackmon is dealing with right-hamstring tightness and will miss his second straight game. He'll give way to Jake Cave in right field, with Elehuris Montero serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth against Dodgers right-hander Gavin Stone. Cave is hitting in the six-hole. Blackmon doesn't have the power stroke he once had earlier in his career, but he's picked things up in June (.333 average with a homer, seven doubles, two RBI and two steals) to raise his season slash line to .266/.337/.410 with a .747 OPS in 222 at-bats. The 37-year-old veteran has actually been better against lefties in a smaller sample size than against righties in 2024.
