Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (finger) was removed from Sunday's game after getting hit by a pitch on the hand. Luckily, the X-rays came back negative for any structural damage. That being said, it sounds like the 29-year-old slugger is dealing with a right finger contusion. After the game, Correa told reporters that he plans on playing during Monday's game. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Twins hold out Correa for a game as a precaution. For now, it sounds like Correa is going to play but fantasy managers will need to check back for another update.
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (hand) left Sunday's game early after being hit by a pitch in his right hand, according to Julia Morales of the Space City Home Network. The former platinum glove winner left the game in the first inning after taking a fastball from Houston right-hander Spencer Arrighetti. Correa was replaced by Kyle Farmer. While the severity of the injury is still unknown, the 29-year-old will likely go for X-rays. Correa entered Sunday with a nine-game hitting streak and an overall .305/.376/.508 slash line through 71 games this season. If he were to miss any extended period of time, Brooks Lee, Kyle Farmer, or Willi Castro are all strong candidates to see the majority of opportunities at shortstop.
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (wrist) has returned to the starting lineup ahead of Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Correa was forced to exit early on Thursday after getting hit in the wrist by a pitch. Afterwards, Correa said he was fine and that he'd play on Friday. That appears to be true as Correa will play shortstop and bat second against right-hander Logan Gilbert on Friday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with Correa back in the mix.
Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (thumb) said his hand went numb initially when he got hit by a pitch in Thursday's win over the Arizona Diamondbacks but he was relieved after his X-rays came back negative. Correa said he'd be ready to play in Friday's series opener on the road in Seattle against the Mariners. It remains to be seen if Twins manager Rocco Baldelli will actually pencil him into the lineup, but the bottom line is that the 29-year-old avoided a long-term injury after what initially looked like it could be a serious injury. Correa got a hit in his only official at-bat of Thursday's game before leaving and was on a heater in June coming into the game, batting .382 (34-for-89) with four homers, four doubles and 18 RBI in 22 games. If he's in the lineup on Friday, keep him in your starting fantasy lineups.
Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (arm) was forced to exit early during Thursday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Correa took a 94-mph fastball off his right arm which forced him to exit the contest. The assumption is that the 29-year-old will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. Kyle Farmer shifted over to shortstop after Correa was forced to leave. He could see additional playing time or Brooks Lee might receive a call-up if Correa does miss an extended period of time.UPDATE: Correa doesn't have a fracture in his wrist after undergoing an X-ray and he's considered day-to-day with a right-wrist contusion.
