Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Luis Castillo continued disappointing fantasy managers in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays. Castillo pitched five innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk with six strikeouts. The 31-year-old is now 0-3 with a 6.89 ERA, although he does have 18 strikeouts in 15 2/3 IP. The season is still early and Castillo has earned a long leash given his career track record, but fantasy managers were hoping for a lot more when they drafted him as an ace. Unfortunately, Castillo will have his hands full in his next projected start against a hot Cubs lineup.

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios improved to 2-0 in Monday's 5-2 win over the Mariners. Berrios tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and a walk with six strikeouts. The 29-year-old has gotten off to a strong start with a 1.45 ERA and a 6.75 K/9 rate in his first three starts and 18 2/3 IP. He should have a good chance to continue his hot streak in his next scheduled start against the Rockies at home.

Los Angeles Dodgers closer Evan Phillips picked up his fourth save of the season in Monday's 4-2 win over the Twins. Phillips entered the game to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by two and delivered a 1-2-3 outing with a strikeout. The 29-year-old has been excellent to start the season, converting all four save opportunities with a 1.59 ERA and an 11.52 K/9 rate. Even more encouraging, Phillips has seen the majority of save opportunities for the Dodgers. Hopefully, the team will continue to treat him as a more traditional closer to the benefit of fantasy managers.

Los Angeles Dodger designated hitter Shohei Ohtani had another nice game at the plate in Monday's 4-2 win over the Twins. Ohtani went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a solo home run, and a strikeout. The 29-year-old has been every bit as good as fantasy managers expected to start the season, slashing .345/.383/.673 with three HR, 12 runs scored, eight RBI, and a stolen base in 60 plate appearances. Ohtani continues to show why he is a top fantasy player even when he is only hitting.

New York Mets relief pitcher Jorge Lopez managed to secure his first save of the season in Monday's 8-7 win over the Braves. Lopez came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by two. He allowed a leadoff double, got the first out on a fly-out, allowed an RBI single, and got the final two outs on a pop-out and fly-out. The typical back-end of the team's bullpen was not available due to a large recent workload, so Lopez was asked to step in. The 31-year-old did have an All-Star season as a closer in 2022 and has compiled a 3.18 ERA this season, but his team context, 6.35 K/9 rate, and 4.76 BB/9 rate limit his fantasy value at this time.
