Corbin Burnes' Next Start Moved Up To Tuesday

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Corbin Burnes will make his next start on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox. The right-hander was originally supposed to pitch on Wednesday, but due to off days, the Orioles decided to have him pitch a day earlier. Cole Irvin will now start on Wednesday with Grayson Rodriguez going on Thursday. Burnes remains a must-start fantasy ace regardless of opponent this season.

James Outman Hits The Bench Sunday

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman is absent from the team's starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Chicago Cubs. Outman has not started against a southpaw all season and that trend continues with Shota Imanaga on the mound. In Outman's absence, Enrique Hernandez will start in centerfield and bat sixth. Hernandez is batting .222 with three RBI across 18 at-bats in 2024. He is nothing more than a DFS dart-throw when he is in the starting lineup.

Sonny Gray To Debut With Cards On Tuesday

St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Sonny Gray (hamstring) will make his team debut on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies and will be on a pitch count of roughly 65 pitches. Gray began the 2024 season on the 15-day injured list due to a hamstring strain he suffered in spring training, but he'll be activated and make his first start of the year with his new organization in a tough matchup against the visiting Phillies on Tuesday. While the 34-year-old should be rostered in all fantasy leagues as a strong No. 3 option, it would be wise to keep him on the bench for his first start this year on a lowered pitch count next week. Originally, the Cardinals were planning on having Gray make a minor-league rehab start. He threw 54 pitches in his simulated game on Wednesday, so Gray isn't going to go very deep in his first start of the year as he continues to build up his arm.

Willson Contreras On The Bench Again Sunday

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras (hand) remains out of action on Sunday as the club looks for the sweep of the winless Miami Marlins. Contreras was hit in the hand by a pitch on Wednesday against the San Diego Padres and hasn't played since. He was originally in Saturday's starting lineup before being scratched. The 31-year-old's injury doesn't appear to be serious, but the Cardinals don't want to bring the All-Star catcher back too soon, so they'll play it safe and hold him out again Sunday. Ivan Herrera will make another start behind the plate and bat cleanup against Marlins right-hander Max Meyer on Sunday. The young backstop has gone 6-for-16 (.375) in the early going with a homer and five RBI, and he's a nice DFS option yet again in the cleanup spot for St. Louis on Sunday. Check back on Monday to see if Contreras is active against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Christian Yelich Getting A Day Off

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is not in the starting lineup on Sunday as the team faces the Seattle Mariners in the series finale. It will be the first day of rest for Yelich after he started the first seven games of the season. The 32-year-old veteran left-handed hitter is off to a great start offensively for the Brewers in 2024, going 8-for-26 (.308) with three home runs, four RBI, two stolen bases and five runs scored in his first 30 plate appearances. Make sure to take him out of your lineups on Sunday, though. Sal Frelick is shifting to left field and will hit leadoff, while Blake Perkins draws in at center field and will bat in the nine-hole against Mariners right-hander Emerson Hancock. Neither Frelick nor Perkins have faced Hancock in their major-league careers.
