The Athletics have designated outfielder Esteury Ruiz for assignment. This transaction opened the spot for left-handed pitcher Angel Perdomo, whom the team claimed off waivers from the Angels. Ruiz appeared in 132 contests for the A's during the 2023 campaign and posted a .254/.309/.345 slash line with 24 doubles and one home run. He swiped an impressive 67 bags, which led the American League. However, in 2024, Ruiz appeared in just 29 games at the MLB level and held a modest .200/.270/.382 slash line with five stolen bases. Ruiz will return to Triple-A Las Vegas if he is not claimed on waivers. Fantasy managers should expect Perdomo to compete for a role in the Athletics' bullpen and will likely have a role as a middle-relief option.

Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers is not in Sunday's starting lineup when the Athletics conclude their opening series against the Seattle Mariners. Langeliers started behind the dish in each of the first three contests and went 2-for-11 with a home run, three RBI, and a 1:3 BB:K. As a result, Jhonny Pereda will get the nod behind the dish and bat eighth. Fantasy managers should expect Langeliers to return to the starting lineup on Monday evening when they host the Chicago Cubs. Last season, Langeliers enjoyed a career season as he went deep 29 times and added 80 RBI. He posted a .224/.288/.450 slash line. He generated an elite 12.8 percent barrel rate but posted a high 27.2 percent strikeout rate. Fantasy managers should continue to view Langeliers as a solid No. 1 catcher in all formats.

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (calf) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Machado made an early exit on Saturday due to calf tightness, but he appears to be ready now. He'll cover third base and bat third against right-hander AJ Smith-Shawver. Machado started off the season with two hits, but has been hitless since then. Fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned about Machado considering he hit nearly 30 homers and knocked in over 100 runs last season. Fantasy managers can safely get Machado back in their lineups on Sunday.

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Taj Bradley looked solid on the mound during Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. The 24-year-old struck out seven batters while allowing two earned runs on seven hits across six innings of work. The biggest issue for Bradley has been his control and he seemed to hitting his spots on Sunday. The Rockies lineup isn't exactly stacked with talent, so we'll see how Bradley does during his next start against the Texas Rangers. Bradley isn't an elite fantasy option, but he's worth rostering in most 12-team standard formats right now.

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Ryan Walker (back) was unavailable to take the mound during Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Instead, Camilo Doval was called upon to hold a three-run lead in the ninth inning. Doval did a nice job as he tossed a scoreless inning and recorded one strikeout for his first save of the season. Manager Bob Melvin said Walker is dealing with back tightness, but it's believed to be a minor issue. The expectation is that Walker will be ready to go within the next few days. Fantasy managers should monitor this situation. Doval would be worth adding if Walker does end up missing some time.
