Jasson Dominguez Hits First Long Ball Of The Spring

New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez cranked his first home run of the spring in Tuesday's 12-3 Grapefruit League win over the Phillies. Dominguez was 2-for-4 on the day with an RBI and a pair of runs scored. The 22-year-old has gotten off to a bit of a slow start, now 4-for-20 (.200) through seven spring games, and has yet to steal his first base, although that should not have any bearing on his fantasy draft stock for now. The Dominican could hit leadoff for the Yankees this season, which should be a boon to his run-scoring production, although on Tuesday, the left-handed hitter batted third. He's dealt with injuries the last two seasons, but if he can manage to stay healthy this year, he's a legitimate 20/20 threat and isn't that expensive with an NFBC ADP of 147.

Roki Sasaki Strikes Out Five In Spring Debut

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Roki Sasaki made his much-anticipated spring debut in Tuesday's 4-2 Cactus League win over the Reds. MLBs No. 1-ranked prospect overall after coming over from Japan's NPB came on in relief of starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto and logged three innings of work. The appearance did not disappoint and reassured those who may have drafted the him already. Over the three innings, Sasaki yielded two hits and a walk while striking out five batters as he hit 99-plus mph on the radar gun multiple times. The righty is expected to make his regular season debut during the Tokyo Series that runs March 18-19. He looks fairly priced right now around his NFBC ADP of 97, right where RotoBaller ranks the 23-year-old.

Will Warren Strikes Out Four In Another Impressive Outing

New York Yankees starting pitcher prospect Will Warren turned in yet another impressive start in Tuesday's 12-3 Grapefruit League win over the Phillies, tossing three innings, allowing one earned run on one hit (a home run) while walking one and striking out four. It was the first earned run he's allowed this preseason over a total of eight innings pitched (1.13 ERA), yielding just two hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters. The righty is doing all the right things to earn a rotation spot this spring, especially with Luis Gil (lat) going down with injury, but right now, it is veteran Marcus Stroman penciled into the fifth rotation spot, not Warren. Stroman, on the other hand, hasn't been very good this spring but obviously has the edge in terms of experience. If the Yankees' second-ranked pitching prospect doesn't win the job this spring, look for the former eighth-round draft pick to be the first one called up when New York needs an arm. If he does win the job, Warren would be rosterable in many leagues, so keep close tabs on this competition.

Spencer Jones Homers, Collects Four RBI On Tuesday

New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones had a big day at the plate on Tuesday, going 3-for-3 in the 4-2 Grapefruit League victory over the Phillies. The 6-foot-6 slugger clubbed his second homer of the spring and also doubled on his way to a four-RBI day. The former first-round draft pick is now 6-for-14 (.429) in spring action, although he's not expected to be on the Opening Day roster with the Yankees currently set in the outfield with Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Jasson Dominguez, along with veteran Trent Grisham coming off the bench. The left-handed hitter displays some big-time power, blasting 17 home runs in 482 Double-A at-bats last season, but it comes with big-time swing-and-miss, as he owned a 36.8 percent strikeout rate in 2024 and has yet to see Triple-A pitching. Nevertheless, if he can make strides in that regard in 2025, we should expect to see him debut in the Bronx at some point this season. Power-needy managers will want to pounce whenever he gets the call, but know that the potential home runs may come at the cost of batting average.

Chase Petty Strikes Out Four In Tuesday's Loss

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher prospect Chase Petty pitched well in his third appearance of the spring, but the team ultimately fell to the Dodgers 4-2 in Cactus League action. The 21-year-old went three innings, allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four. The righty touched 98.9 on the radar gun, and the one run he allowed was the first of the spring over a total of seven innings. Petty is the Reds' sixth-ranked prospect and should make his MLB debut sometime this season, but has just 10 innings under his belt at Triple-A to this point in his career. The former first-round draft pick could be worth a look in NL-only and deeper leagues when he gets the call, but despite the power arm, his K/9 sits at 8.7 in the minors.
