Michael Busch Out Against Phillies On Wednesday

Chicago Cubs first baseman Michael Busch (triceps) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's clash against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. Busch was hit on his triceps by a pitch during Tuesday's contest and left the game early. As a result, he'll take the day off on Wednesday and should be considered day-to-day. With a scheduled day off on Thursday, the 26-year-old should have a good chance of returning for the final series of the year this weekend at Wrigley Field versus the division-rival Cincinnati Reds. Cody Bellinger is starting at first base and is batting cleanup for the Cubs, with rookie Kevin Alcantara starting in right field and batting ninth in his big-league debut against Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. In his first full season in 2024 with the Cubs, Busch has reached the 20-homer mark while batting .252/.335/.446 with a .780 OPS.

Grayson Rodriguez Done For The Season

Baltimore Orioles right-handed starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez (lat) won't make a return to the mound this season, according to manager Brandon Hyde. The right-hander has been working his way back from a strained lat muscle that he suffered in the end of July. It doesn't sound like he suffered a setback, but more that the team just ran out of time to get him ready to pitch. The Orioles were hopeful to at least have Rodriguez available out of the bullpen during a postseason run. That won't happen as Rodriguez will finish the season with a 3.86 ERA across 20 starts.

Vaughn Grissom Gets A Breather On Wednesday

Boston Red Sox infielder Vaughn Grissom is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Grissom will head to the bench after starting in each of the last three games. He collected four hits with two RBI during that stretch of play. It seems that the Red Sox are going to rotate different players at second base down the stretch of the season. Enmanuel Valdez will cover second base and bat ninth against right-hander Kevin Gausman on Wednesday. Valdez has struggled to the tune of a .219 batting average with six home runs and 28 RBI this season.

Adley Rutschman Taking A Seat

Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees. The O's will give their star catcher a breather after he's started in each of the last five games. The postseason is quickly approaching and the Orioles want to keep Rutschman fresh. That being said, James McCann will start behind the plate and bat ninth against right-hander Marcus Stroman. McCann is hitting .227 with seven homers this season, so fantasy managers can probably find a better streaming option ahead of Wednesday's slate.

Spencer Horwitz Heads To The Bench

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Spencer Horwitz will head to the bench ahead of Wednesday's game against the Boston Red Sox. The left-handed slugger will get a much-needed day off after starting in 11 straight games. The 26-year-old holds a .268 batting average with 12 home runs and 38 RBI across 94 games this season. Alejandro Kirk will slide over from catcher and serve as the designated hitter against right-hander Richard Fitts on Wednesday. Kirk has seen his power numbers take a dip this season, but he has knocked in 51 runs across 100 games in 2024.
