Chicago White Sox pitcher Dylan Cease is believed to be staying put for now despite several teams interested in acquiring the right-hander. The White Sox have reportedly put a high price on the 2022 AL Cy Young runner-up but rival clubs have yet to pony up to the current asking price. As a result, the club is likelier to hold onto Cease into the regular season and see if their price is met prior to the trade deadline. While the 28-year-old tossed a 2.20 ERA in 2022, he slipped to a 4.58 mark across 33 starts in the 2023 season while seeing regression in walk rate, strikeout rate, ground-ball rate, and home run rate. In 123 career starts across parts of five big-league seasons, Cease sports a 3.83 ERA alongside a 17.7% K-BB% in 658 innings pitched, making at least 32 starts in each of the last three seasons.

The New York Yankees have signed utility player Jose Rojas to a minor-league deal. The 30-year-old spent the 2023 season playing for the KBO's Doosan Bears and did well to hit .253 with 19 home runs, 65 RBI, and an .819 OPS across 464 trips to the plate. He also recently spent 13 games playing in the Mexican Winter League. Rojas has seen big-league action in parts of two seasons with the Los Angeles Angels but hit just .188 with six home runs, two stolen bases, and a .584 OPS across 83 games and 241 plate appearances. Despite his poor work in the majors in a small sample, many players have turned their careers around overseas as Rojas aims to lock down a utility role with the Bombers in 2024.

The Los Angeles Angels have signed third baseman/outfielder Hunter Dozier to a minor-league deal. The veteran was designated for assignment and subsequently released by the Royals in May after struggling to a .183 average with two homers and two steals across 29 games to begin the 2023 season. Those 29 contests were his lone game action of the 2023 campaign at any level. It's been a struggle for the 32-year-old since he signed a four-year, $25 million extension prior to the 2021 season as his bat has fallen at least 11% below the league average in each of the past three seasons while strikeouts have long plagued the righty-swinging third baseman. The Angels have Anthony Rendon at third base but the former star has been riddled by injuries since joining the Halos prior to the 2020 season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent left-hander Stephen Gonsalves to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invite to spring training. The 29-year-old southpaw has thrown only 29 innings in the majors and hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2021 with the Boston Red Sox. In 2023, he appeared at four levels of the minors with the Chicago Cubs and had a bloated 5.72 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 22 walks and 44 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings pitched in his first year back from Tommy John surgery. He'll give the stacked Dodgers roster some more minor-league depth from the left side to open the 2024 campaign. Gonsalves allowed 24 runs (20 earned) while walking 24 and striking out 20 in his 29 big-league innings over 10 appearances (four starts).

The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent right-hander Jesse Hahn to a minor-league deal on Wednesday that includes an invite to big-league spring training, according to sources. Hahn has pitched in parts of seven seasons in the majors with the San Diego Padres, Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals but hasn't appeared in a professional game since 2021. In his seven major-league campaigns, the 34-year-old veteran has a 19-21 record with a 4.22 ERA (3.93 FIP), 1.34 WHIP, four saves and a weak 18 percent strikeout rate in 311 1/3 innings over 82 appearances (50 starts). Hahn will have an uphill battle to climb and perhaps even stay healthy as he competes for a roster spot in spring training on a stacked Dodgers roster.
