Strikeout prop

John Gant over 3.5 Strikeouts (-134, BetRivers)

Look, this bet doesn’t purport that Gant is some kind of ace who fires a ton of strikeouts. On the contrary, Gant’s usual issues stem from the fact that he gives out too many free passes. In all of Gant’s major league work, he has always recorded a double-digit walk rate at every stop. But he does provide some swings and misses. He had a 29.5% strikeout rate a season ago. That’s a spicy meatball. With the Cubs rocking a 30.8% strikeout rate over the last month, I think Gant can get there.

Home run prop

Salvador Perez to hit a HR (+290, FanDuel)

Perez is as hot as the surface of the sun, and the matchup couldn’t be dreamier. Perez is about to start the final month of a career-best season — a .544 slugging percentage, a .360 wOBA and a 128 wRC+. And the best part is, Zach Plesac has been horrendous this season. He’s now allowed at least one home run in 12 consecutive starts, and there’s no one more likely than Perez to pop one.
