It’s an early Sunday slate of games as always in Major League Baseball. I wanted to make sure to get the plays out early today so you had plenty of time to get them in before running your errands to get ready for the week. After searching through our PROP SHOP on FTNBets, I have one prop for strikeouts thrown and one hits allowed pitching props to talk about today.

Strikeout Prop

Tyler Mahle (Cin) – Over 6.5 strikeouts thrown

(+112, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Tyler Mahle has been on fire since August. He has at least 5 strikeouts in every start and is averaging over seven through five starts for the month. At age 26 his xFIP is a career-low and he is averaging 10.7 strikeouts per 9. Today he faces one of the softest matchups in the league for a right-handed strikeout pitcher. The Marlins active roster owns a 24.6% strikeout rate against RHP with their current roster and has a wRC+ score of just 83. Mahle should be able to go deep into this game and continue to rack up the Ks.

Hits Allowed Prop

Madison Bumgarner (Ari) – Over 5.5

(-105, DraftKings Sportsbook)

Madison Bumgarner has been a very good pitcher in this league for a very long time. He is on the tail end of his career now and it has started to show. He can still pitch the occasional gem, like the three-hitter he threw two games back, but his other four starts in August he allowed six or more hits each time. The Phillies are above average against LHP with a 105 wRC+ and Philadelphia is a positive ballpark for hitters. Any right-handed power bats are also interested on the Philly side. Bumgarner for his career has always limited the HR ball, but he played a lot of those games in San Francisco where fly balls go to die in that wind. In Arizona, we have seen his HR rate 30+ points higher than his career average. Philadelphia is known as a HR park too, so I would not be surprised to see a couple of balls fly out of there today.
