It’s Wednesday in Major League Baseball, which means day games throughout the day, as well as a tasty night slate. Today, we’ll be focusing on one of the night games.

New York Mets Over 5.5 Runs Team Total
(+102, FanDuel Sportsbook)
Leave it to me to give out another free play that is a homer play, but the Mets versus left-handed pitching has been nothing short of a cash cow over the last six weeks or so. Now, not only do they face a left-handed starter, but they get Patrick Corbin, who has seen opponents hit .323 on the road, while slugging .505
Since June 1, the Mets rank second in batting average, second in slugging percentage, second in wOBA, second in wRC+ and third in ISO versus left-handed pitching. With the addition of J.D. Martinez to the lineup, as well as staples Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, Francisco Álvarez and Brandon Nimmo, the Mets are not showing any signs of slowing down offensively in this split.
Lastly, it will be Carlos Torres behind home plate in New York. Per SwishAnalytics, Torres generates a 1.07x boost to runs, 1.05x boost to slugging percentage and 1.04x boost to batting average, which makes him one of the more hitter-friendly umpires in the league. I gave out Mets over 4.5 team total earlier this morning to subscribers, but I still love this play at 5.5 runs given the matchup as well as umpire assignment.
