Reid Detmers Over 6.5 K

You don’t need me to tell you the Chicago White Sox are bad at the game of baseball, but they are striking out 23.7% of the time over the last month and 24.3% against lefties, which ranks inside the top 10. Also, as a friendly reminder, Chicago ranks dead last in wOBA and runs scored and 29th in average against left-handed pitchers.

Reid Detmers has had a rough season and wasn’t that great in the minors when he was sent down, but he’s been solid in two starts since he was called up. The lefty has 18 strikeouts in 12 innings, 10 of which came against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Strikeouts haven’t been a concern, as he has 88 punchouts in 75 innings (10.56 K/9). It’s his 3.72 BB/9 which is concerning. Luckily for Detmers, Chicago ranks 26th in walk percentage and 29th in OBP against southpaws.

Philadelphia Phillies Over 3.5 Runs

Aaron Civale is a pitcher I usually pick on since he carries a 42.2% fly-ball rate into his 29th start of the season. He’s coughed up 26 bombs and at least one in 17 of his last 23 outings. Civale also has a 79.8% contact rate this season (78.9% for his career) to go along with a career-high 2.90 BB/9. The Phillies rank inside the top 10 in wOBA, ISO and AVG against righties. Bryce Harper has 20 bombs with a .280 average and 145 wRC+ vs RHP.
