First Look: MLB Fantasy Picks Today for DFS (5/31)

We have a massive 13-game MLB DFS slate Friday to close out the month of May, and somehow, the most expensive starting pitcher of 26 on this slate is Ronel Blanco at $10,100. While Blanco has certainly had his moments, the idea that he is the most expensive pitcher on this large a slate was enough to make me guffaw aloud to myself, alone in an office. When a slate is this bereft of elite pitching talent, it is usually a signal to pay way, way down, and pour our excess salary into bats, but I’m not certain that’s the read I have on the slate. There are gobs of viable options between $5,900 and $8,000, and there’s an entire tier of ace-adjacent arms between $9-10K.

There are also three extremely attackable pitchers facing scary offenses, so I would expect rostership to be condensed around the Dodgers, Guardians and Rangers, which, despite being expensive, are very stackable due to the lack of premium pitching options. It will be interesting to see how the GPP scores view offenses outside of these obvious top three, with my brand favorite Orioles leading the charge for me early as a low-rostered and expensive stack.
