Kris Bryant Remains Sidelined Wednesday

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) remains out of the lineup on Wednesday as he will miss his fourth straight game after leaving Saturday's contest against the Blue Jays with back soreness. The veteran remains day-to-day. It's been a sluggish start to the season for the 2016 NL MVP as Bryant is hitting just .149 with one homer and a 32.7% K% across his first 55 trips to the plate of the season. This comes on the heels of a .233 average with 10 homers and a career-worst 73 wRC+ across an injury-shortened 80 games in the 2023 campaign. Nolan Jones will man left field and hit sixth Wednesday against Phillies left-hander Christopher Sanchez.

Kyle Freeland Is Fine To Make His Next Start

Colorado Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland (shoulder) said he's fine on Tuesday after getting injured in Monday night's extra-inning loss while sliding into home plate as a pinch-runner late in the game. Freeland will throw like normal in between his starts and be good to go at some point this weekend for a matchup against the Seattle Mariners. The 30-year-old southpaw's injury was to his right, non-throwing shoulder, so it shouldn't affect his next start at all. Even though Seattle's offense hasn't looked good at all early this year, Freeland will still be a shaky streaming option in fantasy after posting a rough 13.21 ERA and 2.55 WHIP with eight walks and nine strikeouts in his first four starts. Freeland currently leads the league in hits allowed (32) and earned runs allowed (23).

Kris Bryant Held Out Of The Lineup

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) remains out of the lineup on Tuesday due to a back injury. Bryant has missed the last three games after exiting Saturday's game versus the Blue Jays due to soreness in his right rib cage and back. With Bryant not in the lineup as the Rockies take on the Philadelphia Phillies, Charlie Blackmon will start at DH, Elehuris Montero at first base, and Michael Toglia in right field. Bryant is slashing .149/.273/.255 this season with one home run and six RBIs.

Brendan Rodgers Remains Out Of Rockies Lineup

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers will miss his second straight game due to an illness. Rodgers was a late scratch on Monday with an illness and won't be in the starting lineup on Tuesday as Colorado faces the Philadelphia Phillies. Replacing Rodgers in the starting lineup is Alen Trejo who is batting ninth after going 1-for-3 on Monday. This season, Rodgers is slashing .211/.237/.316 with three RBIs.

Adael Amador Off To A Slow Start In Double-A

Colorado Rockies top prospect Adael Amador is hitting just .105 (2-for-19) over six games at Double-A Hartford. On the bright side, the second baseman has walked seven times compared to just three strikeouts, and he's swiped four bases. The keen eye at the plate is nothing new either, with 160 walks over the course of his minor league career as compared to 136 strikeouts. Per MLB.com's scouting report, his Hit tool grades better than his Power tool (60 vs 45), but the switch hitter did manage to hit 12 home runs in just 69 minor league games last season, and he's just 21 years old. He's not expected to see the big leagues until next season, and he's not doing much to force the issue at this point, but if Brendan Rodgers continues to scuffle (Rodgers was also scratched Monday for unknown reasons), then perhaps we see him sooner rather than later.
